Ok, here's my updated power rankings after week 11 of the regular season.

1. Bangkok Tweetys (11-0)

These guys nearly have the #1 seed locked up barring some letdowns late in the season...they just keep on winning.

Key stat: #1 total defense (162.8 yards per game)

2. Taiwan Royals (10-1)

Another easy win for the Royals and if they can win a big game against the Partisans coming up next week, they have a pretty easy road to the #1 seed in the Alpha conference this year.

Key stat: #2 pass offense (267.6 yards per game)

3. Bangkok Seamen (10-1)

Have bounced back since their first loss without a hiccup and have a pretty easy schedule the rest of the year to finish at least 2nd in the conference. A little help from the Partisans could catapult them back up to first, however.

Key stat: #2 run offense (217.5 yards per game)

4. New England Partisans (10-1)

Big win this past week against Phuket All and truly proved themselves as one of the elite teams in this league...this #4 ranking could be short lived unless they're able to pull off the win against the juggernaut Taiwan Royals.

Key stat: #1 pass offense (273.4 yards per game)

5. Haiphong Hitmen (10-1)

Solid win against the Islanders this past week and have their lone big matchup for the remainder of the season coming up this week against the Kentucky Colonels. A win would all but lock up the #2 seed for the Hitmen.

Key stat: #1 run offense (237 yards per game)

6. Aussie Battlers (9-2)

Big win this past week against a good Kentucky Colonels team in a very low scoring affair. It was their first win against elite teams in this conference and this team is really finding its stride now. Some help from the Hitmen or Tweetys to knock off the Colonels and this team could finish 3rd.

Key stat: #9 run offense (169.3 yards per game)

7. Kentucky Colonels (10-1)

Tough loss this past game to an Aussie Battlers team that is really making a good late season push. The game against the Hitmen becomes almost a must win, as a loss could drop the Colonels down to the #4 seed in the conference.

Key stat: #3 pass offense (258 yards per game)

8. Phuket All (8-3)

Failed to beat any of the other top 3 teams in this conference and things are shaping up to have a huge game for them late in the season against the Kunming Panthers for a home game in the playoffs.

Key stat: #5 pass offense (233 yards per game)

9. Kunming Panthers (8-3)

Another easy win for the Panthers as they have a pretty easy schedule up until they play Phuket All and the Aussie Battlers in the last 2 games.

Key stat: #4 run offense (205.3 yards per game)

10. Big Dick Rutkowski and the Penetrators (8-3)

Another good win today against an Aggieland team that is vastly improved from where they were earlier in the year. Unfortunately for them, however, they still have to play 3 of the toughest games of the year against the Seamen, Partisans, and Tweetys. Looks like we'll be seeing a 10-6 finish barring a couple upsets there.

Best of the rest:
11. Indonesia Islanders (7-3-1)
12. Macau Gamblers (7-4)
13. Saigon Knights (6-5)
14. Guangzhou Ducks (6-5)
15. Tokyo Whalers (6-5)
16. Johor Bahru Beach Bums (6-5)

I wouldn't be surprised if Aussie Battlers ends up doing really well in the playoffs, and maybe even knocking out the Tweetys. The alpha division feels stronger in general, and whoever wins that will have the best shot at a title.

When we are in the playoffs, anything can happen. Ranking means nothing.

Anyway, this is a quick and nice work by blevstone.

That Kunming - Aussie game at the end of the season is going to have playoff consequences for both divisions.

Man, I dont think I have any more fingernails left after watching the game against the rampaging Colonels. I watched it without knowing the score, while getting drunk, and was jumping and screaming and fist-pumping and pulling hair as the game went on. A great opponent the Colonels are.

I agree with the comment about how the Alpha top teams seem to be the juggernauts likely to win it all. I'm not sure if it's mere perception from seeing all the big 60-0 scores against weaker opponents, seeing all the stat leaders dominated by Alpha players, or how the Royals were on a 10,346,918 game winning streak, but I do think that come playoffs, it's basically just cut-throat games each week and all those Alpha teams will have tough 13-10 type scoring games against equally matched opponents, so imo the best of the Zeta can beat the best of the Alpha. I think we (zeta) have a good shot.

That's the thing I mean. Kumming are ranked below us in the power rankings, but the impression I get is we (battlers) could end up getting pounded from pillar to post by them or the top alpha teams like Royals, Partisans, All, etc. I guess we just hardly play them and always look over our shoulders at the Alpha teams kinda shaking in our boots. Last season we got knocked out in round 2 of the playoffs by the eventual conference winners (and now hapless USA BBB League) Compton Cougars, so we never got to flex our muscle against the best of Alpha in a big game.

I look at the Kumming game as a true determinator of where the Battlers stand as a ranked team among the Alpha giants. If we beat Kumming I'd think we're an Alpha-worthy team, if we lose, I'd think we have a shot in the Zeta conference playoffs to go all the way but will be big underdogs in a Championship game.

Tweetys and Hitmen imo seem to be destined for Conference championship game. But we'll try our best to be there.

What's been going on chronic23 over there? Why the desire to leave a pro-league for the USA sub-leagues? And what's happened to your team there?

Check out our home page on http://www.aussiebattlers.com.au and you'll see we still proudly have the Cougars helmet featured on the front page as our big rivals from last season that we were looking forward to more seasons of battle with.

Now we have no main rival since you left.

I put a suggestion in the suggestion thread about how it would be better to have 2 conferences with 4 divisions each. Then you can get divisional rivalries, divisional trophies, and actually have a schedule where you can meet teams from other divisions more regularly.

Have 1 powerhouse team per division, etc, and spread it out like that.

Say...

Alpha East: Royals, Panthers, Highlanders, Roadrunners.
Alpha West: Seamen, Penetrators, Bills, Farmers.
Alpha South: Partisans, Gamblers, Dragons, Jeaniacs
Alpha North: All, Whalers, Wolverines, Penguins.

Zeta East: Tweetys, Islanders, Seminoles, Heroes.
Zeta West: Hitmen, Ducks, Red Robins, Monks.
Zeta South: Battlers, Knights, Stampede, Gamecocks.
Zeta North: Colonels, Beach Bums, Manglers, Press.

I certainly hope so.

I personally think it was a little silly for Compton to move. I would be f'ing PISSED if a GM of a team I owned signed us up to move without me knowing, btw.

I love how you have UW, my alma mater, on that pic.

I would love another chance at the Battlers. DE Brock Naylor didn't even show up for the game. 41 plays and not a single item on a stat line.

See you in the playoffs.
