Perhaps I am not the first person to point this out, but it seems to me like speed SHOULD be a major or minor attribute. According to: http://www.glbwiki.com/index.php?title=Leveling#Automatic_Attribute_Gains it is not.

This creates the following problem:
If you are properly building your player to play at his highest potential, he will SUCK until probably his mid-thirties. Reason being, if you are trying to maximize automatic attribute gains across your stats, you get nothing for capping speed and lose out on potential gains elsewhere. Therefore, to maximize your build, you should ignore speed until firstly Str/Blocking/Agility (and carrying if you wish) and secondly vision/confidence (assuming you are taking them to at least 48) have been fully invested in.

A fb who can't beat the rb to a hole is worthless, so until you can get points in speed you really have a crippled player. I have made every other class except QB and have not seen a position with a build issue this glaring.

I hear that!

Here's my strategy: I have all EQ in speed so he can be slightly useful on a slow build team. I finished strength first (mid-to-high), working on finishing blocking (medium) while training speed, then I plan on finishing agility (medium), then speed (3 cap). By that player level I doubt concentrating on speed rather than secondaries will matter all that much as far as natural gains of the secondaries. Rhetorical question: how much lost gain are we talking about? In lieu of lost gains from secondaries, look at all the gains from primaries!

FBs don't need a ton of speed to block. With the new running play modifications and the lead blocker rewrite, we'll probably see less of a need for high speed. FBs are "running" backs so I don't understand why speed isn't a major attribute, but I wouldn't go so far to say that it cripples builds. Especially since this allows for larger gains in the other major skills, which are just as important.

Thanks for sharing. I will probably do this as well.
