I'm lvl 26 and do not have tackling capped at 48 yet. Would it be good to use SP's for tackling or just train it up to 48?

At lvl 26? Leave tackling alone (unless it's ridiculously low like in the 10s), just set your Tackling Option to Wrap-Up and Play Intensity at High and you'll be ok.

Watch every snap for your DE, if you are missing 1-2 tackles/game you should raise your tackling. I am working towards the 2nd cap tackling with both my lv 48+ DE's.

He'll only miss tackles against really strong power backs. Then it's only 1 or so. The average missed tackles is at 0.5 a game or lower.

You have to evaluate:
1) Are they insanely strong Powerbacks that routinely make people miss? If yes unless you plan to get tackling up to 80 you're not going to tackle him.
2) Are your DE really that bad in tackling? If you have 1 missed tackle out of every 10 tackles I would say you have no problem. If you consistently missed half of your tackles that's a different issue.
3) In the big scheme of things which is more important: improving your chances to sack the QB or make that occassional tackle?

Like I said in my previous post, I only miss about 0.5 tackles or less per game. Might be less than that.

Train it to 40+. Think about SP if it's still an issue.
Missing tackles like this is annoying:

Unless you want to Force fumbles then go for it and use "Balanced talcking" which will be less riskier with the high tackling

Does no one think that the increased tackling radius that comes with higher tackling help get sacks?

This does exactly answer your question but it might help. Training past ~35 is usually a mistake. If you want to increase an attribute past that point it should be with SPs once you reach the cap training is pretty effective again.

Any proof of this or are you just asking?
