any of the pre-designed plays where one of the defense guys is specifically assigned to the HB, or better known as a man to man defense

nickle man nickle
3 man under nickle
trio whip man nickle
inside lb fire

And this is incorrect. If an LB is covering the HB, you will get burnt every time. The best thing I find is a 3-1 Cover 2...it puts a CB in man coverage on the HB, and CB's don't have the delay like LB's do.

Who covers the TE in this coverage? Can it cover the HB Fly equally as well vs. a very fast TE? I also assume you don't blitz the MLB.

The MLB covers the TE, and a CB picks up the HB....but yeah, don't blitz the MLB.

3-1-7 man close or 4-2-3 man close and only blitz if they run from this formation

So cover 2 is not good with a good SS? I have noticed that it is somewhat effective. He will still catch the ball, but there is a good chance the SS is right there to knock it out for an incomplete. I guess the other plays would be much more effective. Does anyone have a link to this play working? 3-1 that is.

It isn't an extremely effective solution. Sometimes the HB gets there too quick, sometimes the QB throws it too soon.

Which one is not extremely effective? The C2 or the 3-1?

have you watched the play he is even talking about? it isn't an HB streak play, it is a short out route and a speedy OLB will easily stop this. wanna prove me wrong? find one of your GM teams that is about equal to the BC Lumberjacks and send a challenge over

The OLB doesn't even cover the HB...what the hell are you talking about. Unless you mean a 3 front, which the ROLB won't get to the HB in time.

This is what happens when you leave a LB to cover them in man...

And this is how well cover 2 works against it
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=374270&pbp_id=13647430

And that is with a relatively slow HB...a fast HB will destroy either of those defenses.

That is the defense that will shut it down. Anything that forces the CB to cover the HB.

As a DC, one of my nightmare scenarios is strong side passes to the HB when the ROLB is in HB coverage. Its a guaranteed 5-8 yards.

Its also why I'm so happy about the defensive play creator, this kind of worry is eliminated if its set up right.
