(San Juan) - In a continuing trend over the past few weeks, the San Juan Cabelleros put a rout on the Scorpions of Silverton.
This game had everything if your a Cabs fan as the defense played a stout game and the offense exploded on the scene.
The Cabelleros defense held the Scorpions to under 170 total yards of offense. The killer statistic here is that the Scorpions averaged negative yards rushing and just over 3 yards per pass attempt.
The Cabs defense was led by Steve Higgins who had 8 tackles, 1 sack, 1 tackle for loss, and a couple pass deflections to boot. Dylan Windsor had another good game with 6 tackles and 2 pass deflections. Neither was available for comment after the game.
The offense kicked into high gear from the start of the game as they were able to produce over 550 yards of total offense (270 rushing 280 passing) and 55 points on the board off 7 touchdowns and two field goals.
Kicky McBallstriker had another good game as he hit 2 field goals and 7 extra points. Bassy Jano only had to punt once and it was for 35 yards.
The offensive line led by M Whitey and Craig Clarke racked up 20 and 14 pancakes respectively.
The wide receivers were led by Peter Dunn who seemed to be the quarterback's favorite target this week as he went for over 130 yards and 3 touchdowns.
John Cash had another good game as he threw for over 270 yards and had an amazing four touchdown passes throughout the game with a 75% completion percentage.
The rushing game kicked back into gear this week as Rush Magruder had 93 yards and 2 scores. Johnny Crowe finished over the century mark during this game. Even the fullback Rock McGurk picked up nearly 30 yards and a touchdown.
All in all this team keeps getting better and better as time goes by. They are performing well on both sides of the ball and should compete for a championship.
