Somewhat basic question, I suppose more philosophy based as far as how some of you may run your D.

If your Defense was all around pretty sound and you were facing a marginally superior team lvl/build wise, what would your overall philosophy be?

Would you attack heavy and try and force pressure? Would you allow your front 4 to do thier best and force the other team to try and beat your other 6-7 players?

Just generally curious, I am somewhat new to the DC position and am just reading through how others do things.

Cover 0 is bad if you use it all the time. If they sweep mostly on a play, run cover 0 and blitz cb2.

Just swam whatever side of the line they mostly hit. Its tricky if they attack from multiple angles.

Just blitz blitz blitz, blitz the ss and don't blitz the lolb if they run a ton. Run cover 1 against teams that run strong i offtackles and runs up the middle.

Well done holding Lea Lea to 17. I haven't watched, but I think you figured it out.

I made some changes on D but truly was shocked we stuck them the way we did, that was a major upset. I am slowly figuring this stuff out, just tough because most teams dont have many patterns that I can see so gameplanning becomes more difficult trying to figure what works and what doesnt.

Quite frustrating really.

Yeah. It's not easy with a team that changes their offense up all the time. I try to change it up as much as possible, and I use some stupid plays and settings against teams where we have 0 chance of losing. Truth be told, the actual useful offensive playbook is less than half of what it appears to be. Most of the plays simply don't work unless the defense is horribly out of position. (ie: Every Strong-I Run to the weak side, only works if someone stacks ridiculously to strong side)

IT's more fun to use the same offense for the reg season, then throw curve balls in the playoffs
