What do you guys suggest for when to replace starters and when to return them to the game? I know the game suggest 35/65 but do you guys agree?

no.
But what level team are we talking about?
Generally the higher the levels, when they have stamina at 40+, and you keep it at 35/65, the starters will play a lot, lot more then the back ups.

Then the back ups will get minimum playing time at 35/65.

Unfortunately each game is different.
You can't just say, back ups get 40% of snaps or starters get 51 plays a game.
You need to start at say 90/95 (as an example only) and see what happens in close games, blowouts and adjust from there.
Its never a set process.

if a position is deep, set to 99/100 and force starters on 3rd/4th down

if youre not deep at a position, maybe go 80/99

Ok, so I'm in discussion with my owner/GM about energy settings.

He says that 35/65 is the suggested, which it appears to be. However, we are a team made up of mostly level 11-16, and all of our CBs are fairly similar in build/supposed effectiveness. I am a backup getting 20-30 snaps a game, while starters get 75-85.

My energy is down to 50 after the game, so of course my stamina isn't very high... but the starters' is just as low, and their speed/agil/vis is something like 56/32/28 while mine is 50/40/35. So I imagine their stamina is just as low, if not significantly lower.

My pitch to my owner is that it's best to have the freshest guys possible in (especially with our CBs, since there's little-to-no dropoff in talent), and use an energy setting around 75/85 or 80/90.

What does everyone think?

I would never use 35/65...my bottom line is 75/X for the most part unless the back-ups are just so much worse that I am forced tyo go down to 60/X or something. When I have comparable talent levels between starters/backups I think it's better for team overall to have a high rotation rate to keep everyone as "fresh" as possible. Helps prevent those 4th qtr runs.

You're exactly right. You want to rotate CBs more than any other position if they're all well built, so they don't get slow/tired and get toasted deep or start missing tackles.

I recommend 80/99 for default team settings, and then 99/100 at the individual positions you're deep at. Starters will get more snaps but it'll be closer. This way you can force starters on 3rd down and ensure they're probably well rested.
