how much agility needed for a pure speed back? im building a high speed back. i want to take speed to the extreme. i plan to put my equipment and VA's into speed. i currently have 82 natural speed and want to take it higher. eventually i plan to have about 125 to 130ish speed counting everything (equipment, etc) by time im level 40, but before i get speed up i want to get agility at a decent level. which brings me to my question. how much agility do you think is needed to go along with all that speed? i figure a minimum of 68. is that enough? whats the minimum number to get me accelerated, using quick cuts etc,,, i also plan to get first step up high to help with lack of agility.

If you are going to do Speed that High, you'll need at a MINIMUM of 68 Agility Base.

I would say 73-74 would be the best, unless he is a power speed back then you should stick to 68 and use the rest of his SPs for strength

I was running with 110/68....trust me it can't be done. If you want 125 speed you're going to need about 105 agility.

68 agility hardly let me make use of 110 speed. so I had to switch equipment around and it actually made him faster.

I am telling you it won't work. But you will see for yourself anyway, who's going to stop you. Just remember you need to stay about 15-20 points difference.

For once I agree with you, UD. I had my speed up to 110 too, and my HB didn't wait for any blocks at all; he just ran head first into the opposition. I ended up scaling my speed back down so that my speed and agility were equal at ~85, and have noticed much better results. Speed that high is great for a WR, but I have yet to see it work very well for a HB.

By all means come back and show us if you have success though.

i was kinda thinking this guy would be more of a third down type back. not a main runner. he's going to be too one dimensional. i figure he'd be used catching passes out of the backfield, returning kicks etc... i can already see that high speed without agility kinda sucks at times. my guy seems like he runs in slow motion on some plays and on others hes like a bat out of hell. its just an experiment after all... thanks for your input and opinions. i think im going to get agility up to 68 for now and try that with high SA's out for a bit. if it doesnt work i'll move agility up a few more points. either way ill report back to you guys when i hit 68 agility.

Speed kills. MY is at 124 speed and 70 agility and has had some remarkable record breaking seasons.

HAHA, good point. I think he wanted advice on his HB though. If you are serious about him getting the ball off a pitch or a handoff, I would try to get a little more balance in everything. I think you may have pigeonholed yourself into an eternal duty as a KR/PR because I'm not sure how many teams would want a HB like that.

if i trained vision, confidence, str, carrying, up high as i can WITHOUT putting points into it would that suffice? or maybe train them to high 30's then softcap the important ones? i figured im not going to put any more points into speed until my guy balances out a bit. it may take 10 levels or so? maybe i can get an opinion on where to go from here? im currently training stamina//confidence because i finish my games with only 8 or 9 energy. after that i figure catching//carrying

you really have to stay somewhat balanced as an elusive H.B. lets say you have 125 speed. You'll need at least 90 agility minimum to accelerate and use it properly. Now let's take the others into account. If you have 125/90 you're going to need at least 61 vision to use it properly while avoiding tackles. then you're going to need a little str and carrying on top of that. you're looking at level 55 by the time you can do all that. But if that's the plan get ready to wait a while on it. Anyone can destroy BBB and A leagues. It's harder in the higher leagues because you have to have high everything to have better success. You have to figure out how to get high speed and agility without sacrificing the others in return. Just be careful is all I'm saying.

Ratio is 11 to 7 fyi.

So, roughly 80 to 82 agility.

Either that or you just absolutely pump First Step and Quick Cut. He'd shoot off the line with that sort of speed and First Step at around 10.

A pure speed back is better off with lower (65-68 ) agility and a load of quick cut/first step.

An elusive back does better with 80+ agility.
