Last week, I went 5-3, bringing my two week total to 10-6. This week, eight more games of delight for your speculation. Enjoy!
Sacramento SS Psychos (7-1) vs. Coruscant Death Stars (5-3)
The Death Stars are on a roll right now, boasting a 3 game winning streak where they have outscored their opposition 115-13. At the same time, the Psychos have shut out 3 of their last 4 opponents. Coruscant will have to figure out how to stop Sacramento's three headed rushing attack, while at the same time finding a way to bust through a defense yielding only 2.4 yards per play.
Prediction: Sacramento 24, Coruscant 13
Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (7-1) vs. Minnesota Lumberjacks (2-6)
Louisiana is playing solid football, and holds the longest winning streak in the conference at 6. Minnesota is coming off a loss to the Psychos, but has still won 2 of their last 3. The Lumberjacks will have to figure out how to stop the Ragin Cajuns' 4th ranked passing attack while making sure their offense capitalizes on trips to the red zone.
Prediction: Louisiana 19, Minnesota 10
Dallas Longhorns (6-2) vs. Portland Aftershocks (6-2)
These are two teams some consider to be better than their records indicate. Portland has shut out every team they have beat, and Dallas just beat the other 6-2 team in the conference. Dallas must find a way to stop the Aftershocks' 2nd ranked rushing attack, while getting on the scoreboard against their 3rd ranked scoring defense.
Prediction: Portland 20, Dallas 14
Montana Carnage (4-4) vs. Gotham City Punishers (3-5)
These appear to be two teams going in slightly opposite directions. Montana has won 3 in a row, with a chance to earn a winning record in today's game. Gotham City has lost 2 of their last 3, with their lone win coming against the winless Wave. Gotham City needs to find out how to slow down Montana's 8th ranked passing attack, while Montana needs to get their offense back on track. They scored 24 points combined in their last two games, despite averaging 29 points per game in their last 4.
Prediction: Montana 20, Gotham City 12
Riverside Revolution (4-4) vs. Seattle Fish n Chips (6-2)
Riverside has managed to temporarily stop the bleeding with a win against the Shockers, while Seattle needs to rebound following a loss to the Longhorns. Riverside needs to dig deep to find a way to stop Seattle's 3rd ranked passing offense, while at the same time finding a way to score against a team that is allowing under 10 points per game, including two shutouts.
Prediction: Seattle 27, Riverside 3
Fort Worth Red Raiders (3-5) vs. San Francisco Hawks (2-6)
These are both teams headed in the wrong direction. San Francisco has lost 3 of their last 4, and Fort Worth is on a 3 game losing streak. The Hawks need to capitalize on a reeling Red Raiders defense, that is giving up 32 points per game in their losing streak. Meanwhile, the Red Raiders must inject some offense that has scored 12 points in their last 3 games.
Prediction: San Francisco 14, Fort Worth 9
Mid-Pac Warriors (1-7) vs. St. Paul Shockers (1-7)
The Warriors and Shockers are both in a complete free fall, having each lost their last 6 games. The bleeding stops soon for one of these teams. St. Paul came close with a one point loss against the Revolution, while Mid-Pac was shamed and humiliated by Coruscant. The Warriors must get their passing defense in line, and have a chance against St. Paul's less than stellar passing attack. St. Paul, on the other hand, needs to capitalize on yards gained against a porous Warrior D.
Prediction: St. Paul 21, Mid-Pac 16
Houston Wave (0-8) vs. Atlanta Dirtybirds (7-1)
Houston could not have met Atlanta at a worse time. The Dirtybirds just lost for the first time to Louisiana. Houston, on the other hand, is looking for their first win. Houston's pass defense will need to have a monster outing against Atlanta's 8th ranked passing game, and they will also need to keep Atlanta well under their scoring average of almost 28 points per game.
Prediction: Atlanta 35, Houston 3
Sacramento SS Psychos (7-1) vs. Coruscant Death Stars (5-3)
