My experience with these 2 VAs hasn't been a good one... in fact, this past season has been my first ever without forcing a fumble... and i was set to "balanced" whereas in seasons past i was set to "wrap up".

50+ strength, 50+ tackling with loads of speed, agility and vision.

15 in power tackler, 10 in jackhammer

http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=237994

As you can see, senator blutarsky gets over 100 tackles a year and has ample opportunites to knock the ball loose.

Given the fact that my FFs should have gone up from the switch to balanced alone...when you add the 25 points of "fumble focused" VAs...it should have been a bonanza, right?

So...now i've reset them. Unless i hear evidence from other safety builders that they started jarring the ball loose with greater frequency... then i'll have to go with more "traditional" VAs like Track Star, Quick or Football Genius.
(or maybe i should just sit tight till the Bort, sim update)

Anyone else have a similar result? Totally different?

When jackhammer succeeds, it goes down as an incompletion, even though you forced the fumble for it to succeed.

Get tackling to 60 IMO.

It's risky but to really force fumble you have to play on power tackling every game.

not really worth the risk imo.

a safety by definition is the last line of defence...so missing tackles because you're set to power tackle can end up giving 6 free points to the opposition.

in light of my experience with this... unless Bort has something specific to say about this in the season 8 changelog... i'm going back to Trackstar & Quick

Im not trying to talk you out of it. I reset mine as well with 10 in power tackling. I am going with quick to 15 and whatever's left in track star.

I played On power tackling all last season with 61 str and 41 tackling, only missed 6 tackles and forced 4 fumbles. It was fun though.

Stick to balanced tackling, your attributes should be able to ensure you rarely miss tackles (mostly those will come from power back who you will have slowed down anyway) and if your still afraid of missing tackles, pump the Wrap Up SA.

Power Tackler = Useless

I had a very bad experience with it last for my SS, I have heard a lot of good things about Jackhammer though. Since the reset, I will using my VAs to boost atleast two base attributes before I move to a chance/percentage VA.

Jackhammer works well, it's not supposed to force fumbles.

A LOT of safeties (and defensive players in general) are bitching about the fumbles.
Your best bet? Up that Jackhammer, and wait a couple games to see if the fumbling has been upped.

EDIT: I had one FF this year, and I have 53/53 and Balanced like you. It's not the VA, it's the equation for fumbles itself.

If the equation for fumbles is f*ed then the VA is still useless. I would stay away from these kinds of VA's in favor of attribute-based VA's until they have worked the kinks out.
