I was 5-3 for my game 7 prediction. Let's see how this week goes!
Atlanta Dirtybirds (7-0) vs. Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (6-1)
Atlanta is starting to separate themselves from the rest of the Western Conference with a statement win against Sacramento. Louisiana's offensive production has dropped by almost 10 points/game when comparing their first 4 games to the last 3. The Ragin Cajuns will need their offense to capitalize on the large chunks of yardage they get in order to have a shot.
Prediction: Atlanta 27, Louisiana 14
Seattle Fish n Chips (6-1) vs. Dallas Longhorns (5-2)
The team named after Dallas players goes up against the team named after Dallas. Seattle's only loss was a two point defeat at the hands of the Dirtybirds, and they feature the league's 3rd best passing game. The Longhorns, on the other hand, rely on their running game, which is 4th in the league. In the end, Dallas' ability to contain the Fish n Chips explosive offense will play a large role in this game's outcome.
Prediction: Seattle 28, Dallas 10
Portland Aftershocks (5-2) vs. Fort Worth Red Raiders (3-4)
This is a matchup of two teams going in opposite directions. Portland has won 3 of their last 4 outings, averaging 36 points per game. The Red Raiders have lost their last two, being outscored 54-12. Fort Worth must find a way to get through the Aftershocks defense, which is only allowing 2.4 yards per play, 7 points per game, and has recorded 5 shutouts.
Prediction: Portland 30, Fort Worth 0
Coruscant Death Stars (4-3) vs. Mid-Pac Warriots (1-6)
The Death Stars are starting to catch some monentum, with dominating performances against the Longhorns and Revolution. The Mid-Pac Warriors also have momentum, just in the other direction following blowouts to Atlanta and Minnesota. Look for the Death Stars offense to continue their renaissance against a defense allowing close to 440 yards per game.
Prediction: Coruscant 34, Mid-Pac 7
Minnesota Lumberjacks (2-5) vs. Sacramento SS Psychos (6-1)
This is a game with important questions. How will the Psychos respond, following their first loss at the hands of the Dirtybirds? Also, what of the Lumberjacks, who have come to life both on offense and defense the last two weeks? Minnesota must find a way to contain the league's 3rd best rushing attack to have any shot in this game.
Prediction: Sacramento 27, Minnesota 13
San Francisco Hawks (2-5) vs. Montana Carnage (3-4)
Fresh off a win against the Wave, the Hawks come home to take on an underrated Carnage squad. The record of the teams the Hawks have beaten is 1-13. In the 5 other games, they've scored a combined 17 points with 4 shutouts. The Carnage, on the other hand, are undefeated against teams with a lesser record than theirs, and feast on teams with porous defenses.
Prediction: Montana 27, San Francisco 9
St. Paul Shockers (1-6) vs. Riverside Revolution (3-4)
Something has got to give here. The Shockers have lost 5 straight games, and the Revolution have lost 4 in a row. While the Revolution have a better team overall and statistically, they will need to overcome a team in disarray, and a locker room that is at each other's throats with its 26 chemistry rating. In all, this game will likely come down to which team sucks less in the end.
Prediction: St. Paul 16, Riverside 13
Houston Wave (0-7) vs. Gotham City Punishers (2-5)
Houston looks to make a mark in the win column against the Punishers from Gotham City. To have a shot, Houston will need to rein in a defense that is giving up almost 27 points per game, while at the same time, getting some life into their 27th ranked rushing attack. Gotham City needs to jump start an offense that has scored 6 points in the last two outings to make sure Houston remains winless.
Prediction: Gotham City 20, Houston 6
Atlanta Dirtybirds (7-0) vs. Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (6-1)
