Here are the power rankings after today's games. I haven't had time to look at too many of today's games, but I did notice that the Gerbil Wranglers let one get away this afternoon.

Thanks,

we won four games in a row and were still number 15? your power ranking blows

its amazing how the Chicago Sirius can lose two games in a row(we beat them in game 6) and yet they can still move up one position. lol

Beat some quality teams? You beat one team with a winning record and barely. I think the rankings are done right, your team just blows.

Well, let's take a look at some of the numbers shall we...

your offense is 19th in total yards.
26th in completion percentage
16th in points per game
16th in pancakes
16th in percentage of offensive possessions that result in points.

On the D side
You don't generate many turnovers, you have 4, putting you 24th
14th in sacks
23rd in hurries
27th in INT's per Defensive play/23rd in INT's straight up
16th in total yards allowed per game
17th in percentage of opponent possessions that end in no points

ST:
27th in FG made per game
28th in FG made percentage
5th in PR average
8th in KR average

And you're 22nd in SoS, if you're interested.

I have more and I could go on (there are several where you're ranked worse, and a few where you're ranked higher, but those are in lower weighted categories), but I think that's a pretty decent picture of the categories that are indicative of successful teams.

15th looks about right to me. If you want to look at the stats next time before blasting someone, that might help your case, or save you from putting your foot in your mouth. Either way, you're more than welcome to your own opinion (educated or not).

Thanks,
StickMan

What you both need to do is go look at the team stats. Then sort each catigory and find where your team ranks. This is a ranking based mostly on averages of game stats. It has been improved by adding SoS, to help out the teams that played the big teams first and weighted based on importance of stat, ie points allowed. If your team has few if any stat above 15 or what ever rank you think you should be, you are not going to be above that and if you are it is not going to be by much.

If you are going to come out and say your rankings blow, how about you help out the situation and suggest what he can do to improve his rankings. I will give you one for starters that you can pawn off as your own that I thought of while reading your post. "adding a bonus or weighting of win/loses streaks" If this is added it will help you and others out in the short term, but when you go up aginst the top teams and loose it will drop you back to where you were or below where you would be without it. Remember this is a work in progress and by saying your rankings blow and not suggesting anything to improve it just makes every one who has suggested things or helped out with his rankings think you are bitter because your team sucks and you think your team is better than the stats show. Maybe they are better, only time will tell.

Thanks

I think factoring total win% somehow would help to even things out and would hedge against one team jacking up its stats against one of the little sisters of the conference.

That could be good. One thing off the top of my head is if he does add it, it kinda hurts the teams that are loseing the close games, but at the same time it is rewarding the coaching ability of the owner that is winning. Rich get richer and the poor get poorer...maybe?

You just have to wait your turn to jack up your stats against the little sister teams. Because you have not gotten your chance at them or all of them that might be why you are where you are at in the rankings too. Like I have said before, early on in the season the stats are inflated because of this.

About time someone who has questioned the rankings put in a suggestion.

Yeah, we won today against a VERY formidable team, and yet went down in Stickman's rankings...

I suppose it was because our ST stats went down? or other stats?

While other teams win by 80. Seems a bit unbalanced..

However, this WOULD be very hard to rank correctly, as some teams score over 100 points occasionally or pile up 200 pancakes or what have you, while other outstanding teams have close battles and gain no overwhelming stats and in fact, end up losing ranks.

So, His system may need tinkering, but I don't think it will ever be correct due to the nature of our League.
