For FS:

1. Jackhammer
2. Sure Tackler
3. Zone Specialist

This pretty much what others think as well?

I'm not sold on Sure Tackler for most players.

How many tackles did you miss this season? That's the number of times that Sure Tackler would have even had a chance of affecting the play. Compare that to the number of plays Zone Specialist or Clutch or one of the attribute skills affects...

Go for attribute skills for now. If in the future, Jackhammer or some other unknown va is proven to work well, then you can go in that direction. I've gone with quick and football genius for my SS and once quick gets maxed I'm moving on to the speed/sprint one.

I have the following VAs
Track to add a little extra speed
Sure Tackler, I miss about 20 Tackles a yr
Clutch, beginning to think its a waste
2nd Wind, just started this Tree. Sounds Interesting.

I think people are missing a valuable side of sure tackler. If I have a 50% chance to reroll on a missed tackle I can afford to set a more aggressive tackling style on my advanced tactics. I am going for this with my linebacker in hopes of keeping him set on power tackling. (also going to have more tackling and strength than speed/agility)

That was my thinking as well, until Fumbles were taken away from us. I went back to wrap up.

Stat mongers probably don't care about sure tackler, but you'll definitely be pissed if 1 of the 5 tackles you missed all season was letting up a big play late in an important game.

Exactly. If you're a Saftey, you're often last man back. You CANNOT afford to miss. So even if it fires off and works once a game, it's well worth it.

So everybody is excited about Sure Tackler?

Let's see:

evynnesmith@gmail.com:
- doesn't have a safety

KellysHeroes:
- season 5: 19 missed TKL (out of 81)
- season 6: 18 missed TKL (out of 82)
- season 7: 7 missed TKL (out of 17)

...obviously, he got more urgent problems to fix if he misses over 20% of his tackles in the first place.

chronoaug:
- season 5: 2 missed TKL (out of 24)
- season 6: 1 missed TKL (out of 43)
- season 7: 2 missed TKL (out of 28)

...will he be able to cut that down to zero missed tackles by spending 15 veteran points? At least, within the last 2 seasons, he had a chance to see the VA fire in exactly 3 (in words: three) cases.

Primis
- season 5: 13 missed TKL (out of 52)
- season 6: 11 missed TKL (out of 93)
- season 7: 8 missed TKL (out of 50)

Last season, he was within "normal" ratio of about 10% missed tackles. So within one season, he had a chance to see the VA fire in about 10 cases.

jrh359
- season 5: 5 missed TKL (out of 59)
- season 6: 7 missed TKL (out of 57)
- season 7: 13 missed TKL (out of 57)

Last season, he was within "normal" ratio of about 10% missed tackles. So within one season, he had a chance to see the VA fire in about 7 cases.

myself:
SS: - season 5-7: 9 missed TKL (out of 167)
FS: - season 5-7: 18 missed TKL (out of 169)

Maybe - just maybe - it's better to have VAs that fire 30+ times EACH GAME than 20 times in 3 seasons?

my FS plays on wrap-up and somehow manages to get at least 1 FF every other game or so. he really plays more like a SS IMO but is built like a FS.
