I've heard people say 25-30 is plenty, I've heard people suggest soft capping and I've heard of people going to the second soft cap.

Is there any sort of consensus?

what do you want to do? some people want just enough not to miss tackles on wrap up. some people want enough tackling to force fumbles. Make up your own mind about it, based on what you want out of your guy.

Not to mention the level of competition. 20 tackling will likely serve you fine and dandy in a BBB or A league but you would get smoked in any AA and up league.

Asking for hard numbers for questions like this is just asking for trouble.

I have 55 and getting torched...

I guess I'd rather emphasize speed and agility, but I'll keep training it.

Weren't you going for fumbles after VAs came out, though? Or am I confusing you with one of the many others who were...

Nope, he's the one.

I bet if you switched spots, and your guy played LOLB and the other guy played ROLB you would be doing much better.

Or he could not go for the forced fumbling route... he's currently got a 3:1 tackle:missed ratio.

Nope, we're on the same team, he's RO, I'm LO, and I'm getting torched worse than him with 55, now 56...missed 14% (1/7) in the last game with 56 tackling, 55 str, wrap up tackling.

I'm starting to think you might as well leave it at 40.

my 45 lolb has 52 tackling and super vision and does just fine. not a complete monster, but solid. rarely misses tackles and stops the TE and Hb all the time.

after reading McF's post, it's time to question the DC's tactics. and McF? how many missed tackles do you have on the season? 1 in a game isn't that bad, but 1 or 2 every game is a problem for a LO.

I have a level 39 MLB with 51 Strength and 51 tackling and have a little worse than a 6:1 tackles to missed tackle ratio (59 to 13, or 18%) with wrap-up tackling. I was thinking I really need to bump Strength to the second soft cap to counter power backs with lots of points in Power Through (which seems overpowered, IMO). But reading this makes me think that would be a waste. I'd love some input...

my guy is about to hit level 46, and I'm raising it to 62 tackling.

I too am over 50 on it and I am missing at a 10% clip on wrap-up. I think 60+ str and 60+tackling will help, but I am still working on the skills that will get you to the ball carrier faster (speed/agility/vision/strength).

10 missed in 12 games (93 made). We are in Europe East Pro tho and there are some great RBs. Unfortunately we don't even really have a DC. I got frustrated and gave it up after last season because our interior LBs are too slow to do anything (50 speed at level 40+!) and our D-line has a couple weak spots as well.

I don't know that I believe strength is very useful wrt tackling. Staggart's LB never gets knocked at 51 str, whereas mine has 55+ and gives up and extra yard or two with every tackle. Our MLB also has relatively low str. IMO if you want to not get powered thru get 50-55 str and probably 60 tackling.
