I set my goal line defense with the following input.
- Ball spot from opponent 10 to opponent goal.
- Downs between 1 to 4
- Any opponent formation
- 1 to 5 WRs

And then my output is:
- formation is goal line
- Cover 0
- Man to Man
- Coverage Short
- Play focus balanced
- No shift for the LBs

So why did my defense not line up using the goal line formation?
Here's the play => http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=353625&pbp_id=6714499

Do you have a 3WR set that is higher up the output list. What defensive formations are above your goal line defense package?

Red zone defense is the top most of all my defense plays.

It wouldn't be your opponents 10 yard line to goal line. I think it would be your own goal line. Right?

I just want to use goal line formation when the opponent is in my red zone.

Why? I think if you are going against a good passing teameven if they are in an I formation that leves thentire middle of the field open to a TE or HB fly pattern. Also you are making your defense vulnerable to screens. Usually gL defense isused inside your own 5 yard line. It is important to scout your opponents tendancies inside the RZ area. If they run alot of sreens and draws then lay off the blitzing. If they like to power run out of the I or Pro set then put eight guys in the box. Ithey like to go to the air in the RZ then run yur pass Defense. The thing is you have to scout more than anything.

"my goal" is the goal you are defending.

You only wanna use goalline vs goalline, although some people like it on short yardage when you know a run up the gut is coming. If you want to always run goalline inside your own 20, you will get toasted on a continual basis.

What about if the opponent decides to run a 5 WR QB draw on lets say on the 1 or 2 yard line. And you aren't in a goalline formation it won't be stopped.

As has been stated, just use goal line D against goal line sets. Especially against any form w/ more than 2 receivers, you're going to get killed trying goal line against that. However, I do use a fair amount of goal line D against all I-forms inside the 3. I figure at that point the other team is likely to score anyway, so just try to stuff the run and cross your fingers.

no, he is right .this setting "Ball spot from opponent 10 to opponent goal." is wrong. needs to be from your own goal to your own 10.

To answer your original question, the reason it did not work is because you have the input set for opponent 10 to opponent goal. It should be own 10 to own goal. You are defending your own goal. If you change that then whatever you set up should work, regardless of how effective it will be.

Careful using that with 3 or 5 WRs...you're leaving a lot of receivers open.
