Any and all constructive commentary appreciated!

Will hit L46 after next Sim, and likely L47 by end of Season, so some Skill Points coming my way...thinking I still need to upgrade Speed and Agility, and continue building Strength, Tackling and Vision...

Strength: 50.74
Speed: 80.24 (+3.21 - Track Star VA Bonus)
Agility: 58.39
Jumping: 34.85
Stamina: 44.76
Vision: 60.96
Confidence: 32.07
Tackling: 50.8
Catching: 34.78

SA:

Coverage: 4-8-2-2-2
Hard Hitter: 3-3-4-4-4

VA: Brick Wall, Clutch, JackHammer, Power Tackler, Track Star: 5 in each.

Thanks again, fellas! Good Luck to you all!

you need agility and speed bad. That's amazing to me how that's a level 46 when my guy is a little faster and WAY more agile. WAY stronger. more than everything but vision and s.a's Only 51 vision and less s.a.'s but still I am just shocked at that being a level 46.

My level 23 is faster than you guy and with similar agility/vision... and I still think he's not as fast as he needs to be. Vision is probably fine, especially with 8 in super vision. Not sure how the recent buff to elusive SAs is effecting you, though. I'd probably do strength + jumping or jumping + catching for training... and get speed/agility at least to the 60 cap.

All around, that is a pretty good build. The build is an all-around build that will not stand out but is effective. What many people fail to realize is that your player is from season 1 and many things have changed in terms of game play from season 1 to now. I like where most of your levels are except for Confidence. I would raise that up first.

I like the build. I would really like to see how someone does with 100 vision. I wonder what the effects would be.

Thanks for all the prompt responses so far, fellas!

Indeed, my player was created in Season One, when GLB wasn't the game it is today.

Also, I played Strong Safety for the majority of my footballin' days and was trying to build a player similar to the prototype for the Position as I learned it - an aggressive enforcer who was technically proficient at hitting and tackling, stuffing the run, pressuring the QB, and playing over the TE and staying with him or the FB in the Short Coverage Zones. LB's primarily covered the speedier HB's, and the only time I found myself in the vicinity of a WR was on a blown coverage or to deliver a shot if his pattern drew him into my zone.

As someone who played plenty of football, GLB gets a little weird for me, in the sense that maybe there ought to be caps on how much of an Attribute a Position can max at, or how fast they get there (Point Cost). I never ran a 40 under 5.0 withOUT pads, but rarely played against a TE I couldn't cover. When you look at the NFL's best current TE's, you have your rare hybrids like Gates, Gonzalez, and Winslow (and they are rare indeed - exceptions to the rule) The Wittens, Cooleys, Shockeys, Kellers, Clarks and Daniels' of the League are by no means speedsters. 60-80 Speed should be very reasonable for both TE's and Strong Safeties, given their average Body Mass Indexes, and Size/Speed Ratios. When a Team is in a standard 2-3 WR Set, the CB's and Weak-Side (Free) Safeties ought to be able to match up just fine with them, and few if any RB's should be able to uncover vs a Team's fastest LB in an evenly-matched Game.

Maybe individualizing these things is something that can be worked out in subsequent Seasons, or in the Gamma Version of GLB?

For the time being, I'm going to get Agility up to 60, and continue to work on Strength/Tackling, Vision/Speed, Confidence/Catching, in various combinations.

I'll gladly keep taking suggestions, though, and thanks again for all the responses thus far!

I like your idea of a graduated scale for abilities.

CB's can get to 100 speed by their first cap comes in at 40 instead of 48 thus costing more for a CB to make a fast guy... similar to a WR and RB.

Do that with other attributes and other positions and it equates to more variety.

I like your analysis. But this is GLB and is a bit different. Speed is key for safties which is why so many suggest raising it. At your level you should have at least 90 equipped speed, if not higher.

Nice build. It is a season one build that helped serve as a model for how to do things and so it is not perfect, most notably skill points spread out all over the place.

I would suggest either concentrating skill points in either stength/tackling or else jumping/catching after raising your speed. You've got an extremely solid base build now specialize a little bit. For a safety I think it should be strength and tackling to help demoralize a bit and force a few fumbles. You only have a few seasons left.

He shouldnt need more than 90 speed as an SS. Now Vision and agility are WAY too low. You may have 8 in SV but you are really lacking in your attributes. Also, too many wasted SA's into hard hitting tree. Wrap up tackle is needed more than the others. SS's will most likely never have enough strength to really make those SA's worth wile.

Vision and agility should be close to 70 by now if not over.

Based on the last post, I thought it might be interesting to note that 50 Strength / 50 Tackling might just be enough to get it done with those SA's: I'm splitting reps 50/50 with the other mid-40's SS on the Team, but of the 39 Tackles I've accrued over 7 Games, 21 of them (so, roughly half) have been either Big Hit Tackles or Monster Hit Tackles, for what it's worth...

BTW, I hit L46 after today's Sim, and used 4 of the 5 SP's to add 2 points to Agility. I'll edit my build as it develops.I'm hanging on to the other one until I gain a 2nd through training, which is on schedule to happen by Game 9. Combined with daily training bonuses, my Agility should be at 60 for Game 9.

Looks good to me... my SS has a somewhat similar build as I embrace many of the same build principles you do and he has been pretty successful playing in high level USA leagues.

Added Track Star VA (5) to VA's which gave me a +3.21 to the Speed Attribute.

Tackle Count is now at 47 through 8 Games, with 26 being either BigHit or MonsterHit Tackles, for those interested in keeping track of those things.
