Despite the post title I'm not saying that my HB is greatest, The #1 is just his name....

http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=839481

Anyway, how's his build so far and what should I work on?

He hasn't got any level 24 equipment upgrades yet, so his speed should be 85.
He's only had 1 career fumble so I don't really want to put any points in carrying, I just want to keep intense training it with confidence. So I was thinking that now might be time to start putting points in Lower the Shoulder.

I would say get speed to next cap (Im assuming its around 63 based on EQ) and then get agility to next cap. Then I would start worrying about SAs like lower the shoulder and power through. VAs like Bruiser will come in handy if you will run on -50

I already have a few points in Bruiser so I don't much point in getting agility up since I'll be running on Power. As for speed, I considered it but I just don't think that for this HB spending 15 SP to 3rd cap speed will benefit him in any way since he's never really going to reach that top speed except in cupcake games. He'll only reach full speed on a breakaway run, and he'll only breakaway if he breaks tackles, which is where SAs such as Lower the Shoulder come in to play.

when I had speed equip on my Power back, back when he had less than 50 agility, he was pretty fast. But I redid his equip to be all on strength again. Never had any problems reaching top speed despite having over 80 speed and less than 50 agility. Never really broke any big runs though.

I'm not saying that he won't reach his top speed due to his agility, I just don't think that on sub 10 yard runs he'll have time to reach top speed, especially if he's 'off-balance' from breaking tackles.

It doesn't take long at all to reach top speed. It's sounding to me like you are really building a power back? My power back is more of a combo back with Power Back strength right now. But I suspect next season is when he will really take off because I don't have much invested in SA's yet. Which are the bread and butter of power backs imo. My guy gets good yardage against teams that are 7-12 levels higher though. (In an AAA league at level 33, started off in an expansion A league).

From looking at the replays, I notice it take a little bit of time for you to get out of the backfield/through the line, but once you clear the backfield/line, your player seems to get up to speed pretty quickly, I don't think there are any true weaknesses in your build, but I would think working on getting agility to the next cap, then speed to the next cap, all while training confidence/vision is your best route, after that is done, add points to carrying

Nice start Viscount! I would just work on his vision next boost. I wouldnt add any SA till about lev 40 or so. Also train catching since everyone is going with the passes to the HB now.But he looks great!

Vision. Big time. I know everyone thinks it's worthless, but my experience is that your guy won't choose the best places to run without it. My mostly-power back has 50 at level 40 and I love the choices he's making.

All the speed and strength go to waste when your guy can't see the hole and plows into the line for a short gain.

My running back is on the same build plan as you. He should get there by 25. I have all of his equipment in strength though. You've given me a good idea to get a second set of equipment for speed.

One option you have is to get agility up to the 3:1 cap. It wouldn't hurt.

Another option is to get carrying, vision, or confidence up to the soft cap. That needs to happen eventually.

Or you can start with your SAs. I think your build, though, has its foundation pretty much set.

Agility helps break tackles, even if you are power running.

Push Speed up to 68

Then SAs (I'd say QC, FS, and Power Through if you aren't planning on increasing Agility. If you are, just PT, then.)
