Our next opponent used pitch rights on 70% of their snaps last game.

And so on and so on and so on.

What is an effective means on countering the pitch without selling out to stop it?

Define run blitz.... What stops the SS from charging up he middle rather than playing the outside?

Thanks for the help!

Yup, blitz CB2 is a great way to stop pitches to the right. Also, shifting your LBs to the strong side helps as well.

Wouldn't that qualify as selling out to stop it? Should I use the SS to go man on WR2 or another way?

If you run cover 0 and blitz the #2 cb, and have underneath coverage set to man, you'll have an extra defender on that side. You better be sure they're running a pitch though - if they run up the gut and bust through, it's probably a score, and it would also be susceptible to the deep pass.

Blitzing the SS and having the LOLB in a zone coverage on a strong side shift helps too. If you set your coverage to long, the SS is more likely to see the run develop before he hits the LOS.

Cover 1, CB2 blitz. Won't be AS vulnerable up the middle as cover 0, but slightly weaker against the pass.

That will man the SS up on the wr? Or will it put a non-blitzing LB on the WR?

Thanks everybody. I think I've gotten a pretty good idea on a couple different ways to eliminate it.
