I have a defense that I run on MY team and it works like a charm. Tons of pressure on the QB and not allowing big chunks of yards or even many yards at all. I have recently loaded it to a team that I'm the DC on and through 2 games it has been horrible.

My team is lower leveled and there are worse teams in my league. But still there has to be a reason it hasn't worked at all. Good builds on both teams so I'm lost and want to fix it before I lose my DC job.

Any help/ideas would be great.

Thanks

One of the biggest problems on the team I DC for is that we can't stop the outside run. Also, we have good DE's but they aren't getting the kind of pressure that they should.

Well with a different team you're typically going to have different strengths and weaknesses. You may be able to bring the same defensive philosophy from one team to another, but taking the exact same inputs and outputs and expecting them to have the same effect.

I know that I tweak my defense from game to game - let alone team to team. There may be some plays I typically use that I feel aren't going to be properly aligned with what the offense I'm facing typically runs.

What is your best core of guys on the new team you're trying to coordinate. Do you have outstanding LBers? Monster Linemen? A great secondary? If you don't have a complete core, do you have any specific players that are really well built for their role? If so, what can you do to get them to make a bigger impact.

Why are you having trouble stopping the outside run? Do you mean a pitch play? If it's a pitch play, are you giving up big yardage because of blitzing and taking your linebackers out of position to stretch out the play? Or are you talking off-tackle and you have weak DEs?

That's as much info as I can glean without knowing the builds of your plays and looking at your previous games. Maybe someone else can glean more of a conclusion from the information given.

First, thanks for the info as it's always nice that people post their ideas/advice here.

I have a lot of different sets in the AI so I can adjust the percentages where needed for the next team after they have been scouted.

The O-Line is good but the best group is the LB's. Maybe they blitz in the wrong spots and get out of position for outside runs but it's not a jail break blitz in every situation. The DE's have great agility and good speed. We aren't missing many tackles so were basically not getting a hand on anyone when they go for long runs.
