Random NFL thoughts -

Bold move to fire Shanahan

Thank god Miami made it instead of the Patriots

Everyone who is impressed with the Falcons and Panthers need to put things in perspective - the NFC South played the NFC North with Atlanta and Carolina going 7-1 against that division. They also played the AFC West, again going 7-1 against those guys. Next season they play the NFC East and the AFC North. Personally I think we'll see a big drop-off in wins for all the NFC South teams next year, and I also believe Atlanta and Carolina will disappoint fans this post-season. Carolina is massively over-rated, and Atlanta is still rebuilding despite their record.

Thank god the Patriots didn't make the playoffs

I wonder if Cowher is working some angle to get his mentor - Marty Shottenheimer - as the GM of whatever team he decides to coach for. I'd LOVE to see Schott's as the GM and Cowher as the coach for Kansas City or Detroit. I'm not a true fan of either team but both cities deserve better.

Thank allah Miami made the playoffs instead of the Patriots

Mike Florio predicted 2 or 3 weeks ago that if the Jets don't make the playoffs, Mangini would be out. The more I check out his blog, the more he makes a believer out of me.

Thank budda the Patriots didn't make the playoffs

And last but not least - season 7 starts in 2 days!!!

But the Pat's were actually very deserving to make it this season. To lose a QB of that level and still be in the hunt is amazing.

I'm wondering what coaches will sign where. Been hearing Shannon to Cowboys recently. Also that Cowher is not going anywhere but staying home. But Marty ball will be the big story, as he is a great coach for regular season and turnarounds but nt in the post season. It should be an exciting off season.

EAGLES FAN IN DENVER.

Cowboys are little sissies that are where they belong. That game last week was great. I think that we'll see more of that in the coming weeks. As for shannahan, being from colorado, the feeling here is fear. Radahan has been our security blanket for a long time and we have no idea how the team will respond. We pretty much fear change, just like when Elway left. We'll see I guess.

Not a good sign that the owner didn't have a backup plan before he let Shanahan go.

Didn't realize there were so many Dolfans around. I'm a serious Steelers fanatic myself and I hope you guys take care of the Ravens.

Sounds like there is some big time discontent in Jets world with Favre. Personally I love the irony of Pennington having such an amazing year after the Jets dumped him. Pennington is the most accurate passer in the history of the game and got horribly shafted by New York - the team, the fans and the media. He remained professional before the last game, but you know he was fit to burst inside.

Philly wanted that game more than our guys did and that is because our Howdy Doody Time coach is lame. Our owner is lame. Our guys are all Pre-Madonnas, except Witten, much love for that Badass, but as long as Jerry is running the show here we are doomed to failure. Sighhhhhhhhh. Philly beats Minn. this weekend, Atlanta beats Arizona(By small margin), Chargers in the upset and Miami squeaks by the Ravens. Three close games and Philly blows out the Vikes. Let the games begin.

Seg that is Pennigton's 2nd season to fully play all 16 games. They let him go because of injury risks, doesn't matter how talented u r if u can't play ever snap ur just a forgotten man, like Charles Rodges(injuries and other stuff forced him out), Ki-Jana Carter, Curtis Enis, and many others. Doesn't matter how great u r if u can't be on the field.

As for Farve i'm nt a fan of him at all. He's a guy w/ a rocket arm and does w/e he wants in games. He doesn't listen to play calling and has poor decision making. He's great at improvisation. But other then that i feel he's way overrated and nt surprised for once somebody calling him out as the reason for losing. 2 seasons in a row he costs his team. He should just hang it up before he makes it 3. No offense to him, his #'s r great and he won, yeah heard it all before, but he should just retire.

Yeah, I know about Pennington's history and that's pretty much what I'm getting at. His injury history was made worse by him getting pressured to get back on the field too soon a few years ago. He re-injured his shoulder because of the rush and it's taken a very long time to get right. NY lost faith in a guy that laid it all on the line for them and just about got crippled doing it, so I'm pretty happy for Pennington that things have turned out the way they have. I guess I'm just a "stick it to the man" kinda guy

Pennington might have many years left in that nice warm climate of Miami. His shoulder should be nice and loose.
