There are actually a group of people that make a top 25 list every so often. For the most part that list is pretty legit.

Steelerinsider did a top 100 last offseason I believe.... that one was just one persons opinion though

Not attacking them jrry, Im just pointing out results from our league vs Top 50ish competition. Also, I would have got to Zeta, and shown that while not spectacular .. Prague did okay and when you play pretty much the entire Top 25, you are bound to have some losses.

This is more of an education lesson about what top teams are than anything, but as much as you patrol the board and are affiliated with good teams, you ALREADY know what the actual elite teams are, many teams do not.

Lets put aside the fact that SI's lists are primarily for self-promotion, his team because of his hard work and self-promotion is probably a Top 20 team now, they arent Top 10, they can be beat by a team in the Top 25-40 (where Id rank many "great" teams, but then it would be a cointoss on the sim). I know if I saw your team beat the Lima Beans, Id consider it a quality win.

Again, it doesnt matter what league you are in, the Stewart Ballers were in EE AAA last season and were in the Top 100 best teams, even though then by your logic thats an AAA team .. particularly from a region that gets little respect. Truth be told, USA AAA1 is harder to win and has more high quality teams on a yearly basis than pretty much any Pro league, except for USA and CPL. But to say that beating 14th place USA Pro teams who werent competitive with any top teams in the game is an achievement is like me claiming that I have the best team in the game because we won EE Pro .. it just doesnt work like that, you have to beat the best to be the best. However, as you will see, I give your team props for playing so many quality opponents, dont worry.

Well they played 5 teams and 8 games, they managed to win 3 of those and only had 4 blowout losses, however to this point thats the best record of any team in EE Pro against the best competition that GLB has to offer. Also you can tell that the team got better as the season went on, they were really trying to work on things.

20 Games, 19 Teams, All of them Top 25ish, 8-12, not that good, but good enough to keep us around 25th best in GLB, the only games that we were outmatched were San Fran Fire, Monmouth and Santiago Benitos (Two Top 5 and one Top 15 team). Otherwise, they were coinflips and one anomaly OFBG. Clearly to do better we need to WIN the close ones instead of dropping them, but we also had a lot better games once LD got his throwing right, similarly to our league play, once LD got his throwing right, we started pounding teams instead of scraping them out, which made some games competitive in our scrims that wouldnt otherwise have been.

10 Games, 9 teams all very good teams but the Benitos and Yetis are true elites and those were big losses, however at least they tried against them. It would have been better had they pulled out the Hobos or Nites games, but they didnt. Maybe this season, but their losses are understandable as they didnt even try to play any lower ranked Top 50, they went right to the best ..

Well they only played one great team outside of conference play, however TIT is one of the better teams that are hovering up there around 25 or so same as Prague and they had a similar result as the playoff loss to Prague.

Yeah thats tough, when your one out of conference game is the best team in GLB, thats really tough. You can see from the results of the games that the Benitos are just on a whole different level than Prague or SGA, but you can also see that if you have the right talent and some luck you can compete with Top 25-40 teams (like Prague and SGA). Notice what I did with the TO margins between those two games, with a straight up game, we beat Chernobyl by 21, two days later, when Prague had a -3TO margin, they took us to overtime .. in the NFL you consider a turnover 7 points for the other team and in this case it was just that, the margin of victory went from 21 to 0 and the Mutants forcing OT.

Solid games there against Top 50s, lost to Stewart by 20 in their 2nd round playoff game, maybe Stewart is Top 50 as well now? They will have to play more games to show it.

Okay thats it for Zeta, as you can tell, outside of conference games went a little better and were tried more by Zeta teams, a pretty clear indication of what we knew, Zeta is working hard to get better and play top competition.

Again as I said to jrry .. this isnt to attack anyone, this is just to say that we as a league arent representing very well against top competition.

In previous seasons, it was pretty much SGA and Prague competing against outside competition and then we got the respect for it, because we showed we could hang with the best teams in other regions.

However, if you want to improve your teams, you need to play the best, not only that, but teams that will show you some different stuff. I scheduled like 30 scrims this past season to play the best teams and see how they could beat us, they DID beat us, more than we won, but we learned a lot of stuff and thats how we got our tactics together and were finally able to get back to the league CCG and win. Had we done like previous seasons and sit around and beat up on gutted EE Pro teams and not get beat, we wouldnt have learned anything and wouldnt have got any better. We would have sat here in EE pro and thought we were the shit and that we had nothing to learn because we were winning all the time. But I was sick of losing to SGA in the playoffs, so I had to take Prague to the next level this last season, I think I did and I suggest it as a model for those of you who are really serious about improving your teams. Play the best, learn what they do better than you, get more data to see where your tactics are weak. Dont gameplan! Just watch how people attack you, then close those holes, learn where you have talent and what works against the better opponents, because when it works against the best, it will work against those who are not as good as the best. Also it gives you ideas for things to steal for your AI from teams who thought of something that you didnt.

That was the whole point of me doing this, its one thing to complain about bad teams in your league, but its a whole other point in trying to help those teams who ARE good and have good foundations get better.

kanaan asked for a list, so Ill give out SI's list that is up to date as of erm .. well hes working on it for next season so he can invite the Top 100 owners. Like SI or not, agree with him or not, the data is there. I dont agree on a lot of his list either, I think that West Scranton isnt as good as he does, nor Parma .. but whatever, thats splitting hairs, here are good teams to play.
