my Qb has 36 confidence, would I notice a difference if I soft cap it or would I be better off putting my points into something else after boosting. http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=881421 build is open.

you'll get a bunch of different answers really. As for how important it is, it's pretty important but I think vision strength and throwing are way more important.
With your build I would bring throwing to what ever is the next soft cap is before messing with anything. Any passing QB needs a bare minimum of 80 throwing, and if in doubt on your build add more throwing. After that I would get strength and vision to next soft caps. Then I would think about getting confidence to soft cap. I would be training the hell out of confidence/stamina all during season 7. Stamina is kinda low, needs to be at a bare minimum of 35 if you want to be a starter.
Also, I would decide now if you want have a good QB next season or a great QB in 2 season. If you want a good QB next season, I would work on TS and PF. If I was looking for a overall best build, I would get my main attributes (throwing/vision/strength) to a point where I wouldn't spend another SP there and then raise my SAs. If I could do my QB over again, I wouldn't of put a point in SAs till 30.

+1 Other than training you shouldn't put anything into conf., unless you start throwing a ton of INT's or something.

pump throwing ! Im guessing its natural 54 .... you want it at the third cap before you touch much of anything else from where you are now

Good luck playing against linebackers with maxxed out TRASH TALK and THE GLARE plus the new intimidation veteran ability if you have crappy confidence.

Confidence depends on your team and your situation. Since you have a friggin awesome Oline (2 sacks, 2 hurries for Season 6) and only threw 2 ints, your confidence hardly came into play at all for the entire season. Now if you had to play with more defenders in your face or vs tougher competition, confidence would most certainly matter more.
Since you moved up to the next league, I think you'll see how much confidence matters really soon.

Agreed.

Meh... the real answer is that confidence matters, but no one except bort truly knows or understands how much so....
I mean the general public's view on confidence in GLB is pretty narrow, as in it only goes down when a negative result happens directly to your player, and even then the amount of moral deterioration/that effect on attribute deterioration is far from understood.
Lets pretend for a moment that moral is much like energy, and goes down a whole lot for a lot of different reasons (such as if the opponent gets a 1st down the entire D's moral drops, or if the opponent scores a TD the entire team's moral drops) in such a way that no player is ending the game with close to 100 moral, but rather somewhere between 40-75 depending on the events at hand and their confidence. If moral does go down more than it goes up (like stamina) and if moral is effected by many plays (similar to stamina) then confidence is perhaps a very underrated attribute, because this would mean that players with low confidence are not playing close to 100% for the majority of all games.
Also, the veteran ability:
"Heart of a Champion: Each level gives 1% bonus to Confidence in the playoffs."
Supports the idea that moral swings are larger in the playoffs and confidence is a bigger factor come playoff time (which logically makes sense and would explain the sim shift when playoffs come around).
I of course don't truly know what the real deal is, but the above is just some food for thought, and I'd guess that confidence/moral is a bigger factor than most believe it to be...

In my experience, which stat is most important for a QB is not as cut and dry as people make it out to be. It actually depends very heavily on which specials you plan to use. For your build, I will say that throwing is your most important stat, followed by vision, then strength. Confidence on it's own won't make a huge difference for your build - but it can make a huge difference in combination with other things.

We have a squad that is very heavy on confidence across the board, and come playoff time we absolutely gamed up big time in the playoffs. We upset a team that murdered us by 30 in the regular season, won tons of close games in the final minutes, and most importantly (to QBs) my QB was absolutely money and clutch in game winning drives. He played like a stud down the stretch and got better in the 4th, I credit it to Confidence.
It is very important. Not the end all be all, but I'd say the 4th most important stat after Throwing, Vision, Strength. After Confidence I'd say Stamina is the 5th most important stat.

I also agree with this, stats vary depending on your situation and your team. If you have a ball club that has a monstrous Oline that never gives up any kinds of sacks and pressure, Confidence wouldn't be as important as if you were on a run-focused line that gave up 20+ sacks.
When you have pressure on your face, then confidence is unbelievably important. It all depends.

After my QB dominated last season, and massively choked in the league championship, I'm convinced that confidence has an extra impact in how players succeed in the playoffs, particularly when in adverse situations such as getting behind in a big game.
