Does it help break tackles or help your player hit the hole faster?

It helps you break tackles for sure.. its been proven..
however i'm not sure about hitting the hole faster.. it may be just good speed/agility/first step
it also helps running backs not fumble the ball.

Confidence has been implied to have a rather global effect. Bort himself mentioned at some point that "you need to have the confidence you can jump that high," etc. and the QB Demoralize skill mentions demoralized players "might chase slower," implying a hit to speed.

I don't mean hitting the hole faster I mean committing to a cut or hole such as in the return game. Your player is not actually faster, just their decision making.

My RB was fumbling 2 to 3 times a game and I bumped his confidence up to 40 and it took care of that problem.

I'll be experimenting with Confidence a bit next season. I'm thinking of getting up into the high 40s to low 50s. Soft cap it maybe? I wanna see if I read plays faster and if I shed blocks quicker.

The way I understand it, is that Confidence is nothing more than a +/- modifier that is applied to your base attributes during mid-game situations. This plays into "breath" and your player's ability to recover. When you have low confidence, it pushes your in-game morale lower, which then impacts your base attributes to be negatively effected.
When Bort says "you need to have the confidence you can jump that high" What he means is that if your confidence is low, and your in-game morale meter drops, then your 30 jumping attribute might only perform like a 20 jumping attribute.
I always read people misinterpreting confidence simply because they don't understand its basic effect is a +/- multiplier. High confidence enables you to maintain your in-game morale versus other high confidence players, thus allowing your skills to perform at a high level for all 4 quarters.
edit: something I want to clarify in this post is that Confidence is NOT a skill. It doesn't magically help your RB run faster, yet technically it WILL help your RB run faster because if your RB's in-game morale drops too low, then he will lose what seems to be a large percentage of his base skills.
Just like the new veteran abilities are described as giving +1% or +3%, etc, low confidence can create -x% to your entire skill set depending on the gametime circumstances.

People focus too much on the negative portion of confidence, which is stopping your player from sucking w/ low in-game morale. Don't forget, that with higher confidence you player gains a larger in-game morale boost for good plays that he and his team makes.

Certain positions don't get big confidence dips though. As a saftey i missed 1 tackle last year and am in zone coverage most all the time so i'm guessing i don't get affected "letting my man catch the ball". I don't think my morale dips too much between plays but i may be wrong.
