I used to have a WR and I originally wanted to make him like the two WRs in the thread title but it ended in complete failure.

I just can't seem to make a WR work without just blasting almost any and all points into SPD/AGI and then later on into CAT/VIS.

How the hell do you make these type of receivers? I assumed going into the experiment it would be like vision first, agility second, catching third, speed fourth, and jumping fifth but by level 25 I just retired the WR because it was hard to get a contract for one (every owner would just be like, "Switch all equipment into speed and you can play backup") and my WR just always seemed incredibly inadequate compared to his teammates.

At this point I'm just going to assume players like the ones whom were mentioned in the title simply aren't possible in GLB.

Is that conclusion basically consensus at this point?

Possession receivers can definitely be done. You still have to start with speed/agility first imo, because without at least adequate speed/agi it's just not possible to be an effective WR. High agility, catching, jumping, and vision is what you're looking for.

I'm actually trying to write a guide for this, but I'm waiting to see how my WR does this season in the high level 20s to see if my build idea works.

Hmmm, I'm half assedly trying to turn my current WR into something Hines Ward-ish but it's... I don't know. Just seems like it'll never happen. Right now I have AGI double capped and speed triple capped. Catching first capped. My vision still blows but I guess want to get both of those double capped. Strength and jumping are sitting around 40.

Not a very impressive WR yet though.

You have a really good speedster build, just stick with that. If you want a possession guy I'd start a new one. Adding some vision will probably help, but as someone who has a WR in Canada AAA #1, I'm gonna say your biggest problem is the fact that you're a level 25 receiver in that league. You're facing CBs that are usually ~15 levels higher than you, that's why you aren't getting open.

Based on your 39/42/42 scouting bars there's absolutely no way you have those stats. One of my WRs basically has though stats and his scouting bars are 39/51/54:

Strength lowers WR bars.

My vision is also terrible. It's at 27.

That would effect both bars, right? Either way, why is your vision at 27?? Fix that.

Just haven't gotten around to it yet tbh. I think I'm just going to retire him after next season. I've never been happy with the build anyways.

I'm going to try and slow build but basically I'm I'm going to triple cap agility, double cap speed, double cap catching, double cap vision, and single cap jump and probably dump all EQ into either catching or vision. Train like strength and stamina the whole time. Ugh, I suppose there's carrying and confidence to worry about too.

Would that be about what y'all wound recommend for a Hines Ward? Or a different order?

Personally I think it's the SAs that make the difference for this type of build.

Is that like a level 45 goal? Cause that's a shit ton of points.

I think it takes longer for possession receivers to come into their own than speedster receivers. In the early levels the speedster will get open and get most of the looks. I'm "hoping" that in the 30's my possession guy picks up and starts to get more targets as the speedsters aren't as mismatched against the corners. But I could be wrong, I'll just have to wait and see.

My WR was almost always open when running med. routes. He had good speed, but I never went all out in it. Jumping was the last to soft cap for him. I think it is all a balancing act. Speed most important, agility 2nd, but like 20 points back. After those I think just trying to get the rest evened out and to the first cap is the trick. It also obviously depends on your offense, and the types of defense your up against. You have to watch a lot of film to see how well his route running and stuff is.

to build a hines ward, you need to double cap blocking and triple cap confidence.
