So I've heard here and there that blocking can actually help DTs and DEs... it helps their 'hands'

Is this just a bunch of bull spit or has anybody actually put some effort into testing this?

Many tests with most indicating that blocking does very little if anything to help break blocks.

it is a secondary att, which suggests that it has value, but I would still put experimental points into jumping before blocking.

yeah I would love to know this as well. I'm building my DT right now, but there aren't very good options for intense strength training. I was considering just doing blocking+strength since blocking is so low it will boost pretty quick. I would love to hear anybody with more knowledge on this topic post in here! Thanks.

Well what does blocking do for offensive linemen? It probably does the same thing for every other player. So if you want your DT to be able to stop the guard from sacking your.....LB I guess, put points into blocking.

Bort has stated that it can be a small help in shedding blocks. I know some people swear by it, and other people swear it does nothing. The way I look at it, when I don't have anything else useful getting reasonable gains from training, I'll train it up to ~30.

One of my DE's has 32 blocking, and I saw insignificant change.
