Is it not that important for a good corner to have catching and tackling close to the first soft cap? I'm looking for cornerbacks to add to our team for next year and they all are superloaded with speed/agility with vision around 50 - but catching and tackling seems to be in the mid 30s at best for most of them. Maybe I just don't know anything about how a corner should be built in GLB but for right now I'm passing on those guys for guys who may have speed/agility in the 60s but catching in the 50s as well.

If you are making a shutdown Corner, (i.e. going for PDs more than INTs) you don't really need a lot of catching / tackling if the ball is never thrown your way. I think that too many CBs focus on speed and let agility sit at 50-60 and then make matters worse by going for interceptions and they get burned deep.

So a corner with speed/agi both in the 80s will likely fare better than a corner with speed/agi in the 60s and catch/tackling in the 50s? This being because the higher speed and agility will allow them to stay with the opposing wideout thus causing the QB to throw elsewhere - assuming vision was also pretty well built.

It won't help to have catching if they can't stay on the WR. Also, low tackling can be made up with wrap-up tackling.

Ya, you just don't know anything about corners.

The best corner doesn't get thrown on, so he doesn't have any opportunities to use catching.

Thats not how cornerbacks work man.

You're passing up great CBs for people who probably thought it'd be a good idea to pump jumping and catching to get ints

Catching and Tackling aren't ignored per se. It's just not the things young corners should focus on. I have a high level corner. He is still not worried about those two at this point.

Thanks for the answers. It makes sense it was just a case of me not knowing how a good CB is built - I've never even considered trying to build one. But at least now I know what to look for when trying to recruit one.
