For example, when I play 3-1-7, and LB is strong side, I seem to get 4 CBs on 2 WRs; when I play LB Weak, I get 3 CBs on the 2 WRs. This is playing man-to man. When I play zone, and LB is strong side, I get only 2CBs on the 2WRs.

What's up?

I'd guess that the issue comes down to limited number of plays out of that specific formation.

When your LB is on strong side, you're probably playing double outside...causing 4 CBs on two WRs...

When your LB is on the weak side, you're likely playing double "Z" or "X"...

In the Zone, it's probably a man/zone combo... Possibly a 2-man under combo...or something like that. The two CB's man up...and everyone else takes a zone.
