Its a 3-3-5 nickel, that much I am pretty sure of...but..

Is this a cover 1 or cover 0? Why does the FS come to the line and not the SS? What are the other settings? (Underneath, shifting? pass/run etc....) I thought the FS was in the backfield on regular cover 1 so I know something is different about this.

Any help appreciated! 1st Season rookie owner/DC here, just trying to learn! TY so much, gurus of GLB

Looks like Cover 0, which will bring up the FS onto a WR.

3-3-5 cover 0 balanced man underneath weak shift rolb and MLB blitz, I think.

Looks like ROLB is blitzing too perhaps...but I concur otherwise.

I said ROLB, look at the post you quoted.

I was on my iPhone, and for whatever reason it auto capitalized MLB but not ROLB.

There should be no zone under because it's all man. Could work different but my take on cover zero is that it is all man coverage.

that's a good play vs WR screen, but i suggest not blitzing the ROLB at every opportunity. there have been on occasions where the WR would block 3 DBs its that crazy. the ROLB will then have the angle on the WR to make the play. having the MLB blitz is a good choice to plug the gap that the HB can run through, but you'll need to pray he doesn't miss (the FS would normally be the insurance against the run).

oh as has been said it is 3 nickel cover 0 man underneath weakshift. another danger is the long pass with elite speed wideouts as it can stretch this defense
