They're not really that expensive. The First Step piece isn't great but its not bad either. You have to weigh the cost of shopping every day for another piece to show up against training on intense. My first CB wasted almost an entire season shopping because he couldn't find anything decent in the store to buy.

I'd pass on First Step since it's the first SA in the tree and not really worth having, IMO. 5% Deflect pass is a good piece and one that I would consider. It will quickly become valuable after a few upgrades.

Yeah people who complain about the lack of stats on equipment are going about it wrong. Find an item that has a good start then upgrade it as you can while still having your regular pieces equipped. By the time you upgrade an advanced item a few times itll only be a point or so short of your basic equipment. IMO if you find something with Shutdown Coverage or Superior Vision and +1 to vision speed or agility take it and just start upgrading it until its a good enough piece to wear.

I actually disagree with the first part of your statement: I think that because First Step is the first SA in the tree, it actually makes having the extra First Step from the Advanced Equip better.

Since it's first, it's the cheapest to upgrade, which means you can get it up to 4 for only 6 SPs. Then, after upgrading your Advanced EQ a bunch of times, you could have your First Step at 7 or something, while only having to spend the original 6 SPs to do it. I've seen speedster WRs with 9 first step so it could be very useful depending on the kind of defensive scheme your team is running.

The best piece I found for my CB was make intercept chance +some percent. It's been upgraded a few times. Of course I have less INTs this year lol. That may have more with teams throwing less and running more though

But upgrading AEQ tends to be slower than normal EQ, especially early on. Why settle for +1 SV (then upgrade), when I can hold out for +2 speed +1 SV? That one will clearly be better at each upgrade.

thats true but on the same note i generally dont buy advanced equipment till my guys are 25ish so that better pieces come up when shopping. Before that just train intense and save your tokens on cheap advanced gear. That way when you get a piece you like you can immediately bring it up to speed.

Oh yeah. Of course you do that early on (my CB has a superior pink visor...+1 carry, cost me 500. Will put my BTs in it when needed). But when you're looking for something to wear long term, which is the OP issue, then you want something that's going to always be better than your normal EQ.

They're only worth getting if they have speed/agility/vision/jumping, plus an SA increase or an increase to catching/intercepting.

Superior Orange Visor
+2 agility
Catch ball chance +3%

$16K

How about this one?

I would hold out for something better still. If I am going to take something with a %-chance, then it either would have to be +3 agi/spe/vis and +5 interception chance, otherwise, I wouldn't bother taking it.

Thats not that bad. If anything it will give you a place to hold bonus tokens until you find a better piece.

+3 to a primary stat
+% to important stat or 1 to Relevant SA
