I have this thought of possibly owning a team in the future, but would like to experience one of the coordinator's jobs first.

That's a start.

First, you need to get some guys on human teams. Then, watch what your team does, what works, and what doesn't. While doing that, also be a regular poster on the team forum and provide insight on tactics, scouting, and what you've seen working for other teams. Show some knowledge, and eventually you should be able to get a GM job (either with the current team, or by a teammate who is starting their own).
