I'm trying to run a man coverage defense out of the 3WR set. But instead of the FS covering the TE like I think he should, he goes to double WR3 and leaves the TE wide open. Does the FS not want to cover the TE, do I need to switch the blitzing safety to the FS so the SS will pick up the TE?

Try switching the FS and SS on the blitz. Other than that the FS should pick up the TE but like many things this doesn't seem to work as intended.

Normally I'd say post as a bug but I think your time is better spent finding a work around. Or maybe your FS has low vision or is just plain stupid.

It is simple.
You just can't blitz the LOLB and SS on the same play or you will leave the TE open.
FS won't cover the TE.

You could also run a cover 1, in which case the FS will probably pick up the TE when he enters his zone.

Don't do it.
FS will be too far off the TE.

I think the MLB will pick up the TE in Cover 1 if you blitz both LOLB and SS.Originally posted by davearchie

This is the band aid, but this is exactly WHY the FS should go cover the TE. If he knows the SS and LOLB are blitzing, why wouldnt he come over and cover the TE? OP has a point.

Exactly. The FS is better in coverage so if I want max pressure why would I blitz the FS and leave the SS to cover when that goes against both their strengths.

He doesn't have low vision... but I haven't ruled out the possibility of him just being stupid.

Has nothing to do with your player. Ive seen this at all levels. Ive just put temp band aids on it for now. This has been reported before, im just hoping it gets fixed next season

Got it, good to know only the LOLB or SS will cover the TE.

Yea, it's just one of those sim things again lol.
