Well, we did learn one lesson from the first quarter. Unless he picks off a pass, or is secretly gay, Cortland Finnegan will not be touching a ball again. 3 kick/punt returns, 3 fumbles.

*cheers* glad you stomped that CPU team.

*hums mantras and sends pretty girls with handfulls of huge peacock feathers to screen the last games played by the Skoals*

Of course you mean Portland Finnegan. You'll not want to make that mistake again, or someone shall have to sternly advise you not to, and eventually become quite dickish about it...

I had a CB/return specialist that was a fumbler, get carrying and strength over 20, problem disappears. And honestly you can't blame a level 8 guy for fumbling in this league. Are you slow building him?

I was talking to the non-pirate Jack, Jack the Pirate. Solly.

I was for a little while, until I realized we only had 3 CBs on the roster. I thought I was taking advantage of a CPU team and tried to get him in on a few more plays for the exp. (We're not that concerned with stats, which is likely why you won't ever see us at the top of any charts.) That's the reason for pretty much all our low-level guys actually, filling needs. We don't expect to have a shot at advancing for 2 more seasons, at least, realistically, so we're taking our time, figuring out builds, seeing what gameplans work and which ones don't, etc. Getting to the playoffs, though, even if it's the 8 seed and it's 1-and-done, is a pretty good-sized carrot for us. We do have 2 LBs, a SS, and a backup QB in the slow cooker, though. And thanks to Bort's Flex Friday sale he just had, we have the flexibility to add more pieces where needed.

If you wanna get technical, he was level 7 during the game, those returns got him up to 8.

Word. Well, from what I've seen getting carrying much over 20 seems to be a waste for a returner, but keeping it much under = fumble-itis. G'luck.

oh, sorry. thought you were talkin about one of the CPU guys. oopsie.

I have a level 15 CB returning at the moment. he's coughed up 1, I think. carrying and str are 20 on the dot. his vision sucks, though. he runs right into tacklers. makes me wanna bap him.

I just realized you were talking about the mistake of calling him Cortland instead of Portland. I like Cortland...so much that I made an early season trade for him in the fantasy league. Hasn't been out of my lineup since (except for the bye week.) I don't blatantly rip off people I don't like to my players. And that from a big-time Cowboys fan.

What is his carrying style? Also, are the blockers doing their job? Biggest thing with the returners after fumbling is the blocking imo.

@ Brimmstone, Cort Finnegan is having a helluva year.

I played IDP a couple of seasons ago, too many players to keep track of imo, and too many were similar, so I didn't think it added much unless you got a real breakout guy, and that is more luck than anything most of the time.

I was considering trying an auction redraft next season, I only have a work keeper and a internet people dynasty this year, so was thinking about re-expanding maybe.

All depends on the scoring of an IDP league. If you give high points for tackles, any LB will do. If the league is weighted for sacks and INT's correctly then LOLB's and STRONG DL work well. Just all in the scoring.

Edit: Any LOLB in a 3-4

The one I was in you had 1 DL, 1 LB, and 1 DB. At the end of the day there was maybe 2 or 3 outstanding guys per positional group, and then a great big gaggle. There were probably 20 DLs and LBs that were "startable" in that league that year. Might have been an odd year? To me it really didn't add anything other than a roster spot, like adding a WR4 spot, or another k or dt.

Our setup is 2 points for a tackle, 4 for a sack, 5 for an INT, 11 for a Pick-6. My CBs are Finnegan, Antonio Cromartie (Chargers), and Charles Tillman (Bears.) I guess it's a good problem to have deciding which one of them gets to sit each week. LBs are Michael Boley (Falcons), Kirk Morrison (Raiders), and Nick Barnett (Packers, on IR now.) We also award points for kick/punt return yards, which makes me happy because I happen to have Cortland Finnegan (Titans), Eddie Royal (Broncos), and Leon Washington (Jets.) Actually, my main starting RB corps is both Jets RBs (Washington and Thomas Jones) and Brian Westbrook (Eagles), which got me to the playoffs almost by themselves. (We've got a formation lineup league, 1 RB, 1 WR, 1 TE, and 3 flex to divide between those three positions.) Add in my recent trade of Santana Moss for Tony Romo, plus the brains to let someone take Plaxico Burress off my hands, and I've got a pretty good setup for a Dynasty league. OK, I'm off topic here, I'll stop.

It's your thread, do whatever topic you want. imo.

Not to mention its interesting to most here likely, and this forum is pretty dead for the most part, you aren't distracting from anything.

I missed the playoffs in both my leagues this year, dynasty team is rebuilding, got Slaton and a bunch of scrubs/hope it works at RB, Romo, Neckbeard and Thigpen at QB, Colston, Steve Smiff (Car) and Avery plus some scrubs/hope it works at WR, and Keller (NYJ) and Vernon Davis at TE, plus got the 1 pick in next years rookie draft and another first rounder that will be 7 or higher (its the 4th seeds).

In my keeper my division all finished 7-6 or 6-7, so by virtue of that and bad luck at WR I missed out. First time in 5 years and as many as 4 leagues per year I missed the playoffs in any league, much less all (both) of them.
