its pretty obvious the players in the pro leagues care about them, they just dont want everyone to know.

Only bad teams care about scouting bars.

Scouting bars can tell you a reasonable amount about a build, provided certain assumptions are made (i.e. the person building the player isn't an idiot - which is probably why they have more meaning in pro leagues as they don't tolerate bad builds). I can only assume that the people above who say not to worry about them don't understand them properly.

I'd be interested to see anyone's thoughts on a specific formula also. The bars will be weighted averages of the attributes, with each bar having different weights for the attributes depending on what it is. It would require a lot of data to correctly assign the weights for all positions though, although it is not impossible.

It's true that Scouting Bars are very important, but they're only important for what the name implies, scouting. They can tell you what type of build a player has. If you're building a player to get high scouting bars, though, they'll end up sucking, because high scouting bars means balanced, and balanced is bad in GLB.

I disagree. Scouting bars ARE important. The scouting bar is one indication of how good the game thinks your player is. I find that to be vital information.

I've yet to see a higher PD bar in the game, but I only looked at CBs over level 42, while mine's a level 34.

His season speaks for itself. No INTs, but he's hardly ever thrown on, much less completed on. If you glance at the PbP, more than 2/3 of his tackles are on special teams.

Scouting bars = overrated by new players
Scouting bars = underrated by veterans

Posted this summary on main forum. Maybe it's what you all need.

That's a little old and contains some inaccurate information. (e.g. confidence has a positive effect on pass blocking bars for Gs).

I was hoping there would be something better now, with actual weights given as numbers, rather than a wild guess at ++,+,* or the like.

Still, better than nothing I suppose. But it could do more harm than good with the inaccuracies it contains.

It's money as far as CB and WR go.

very interesting point

str is over valued in most equations

The weighting of averages for these scouting bars probably hasn't changed since season 2 or so making them extremely dated.

Have you ever noticed your scouting bar numbers change after one of Bort's "big offseason changes"? That tells me all I need to know about those bars.

It also increases sometimes we level up, with the decimals we gain

I agree that they're decent to look at for scouting. Then again, you can watch teams play and see how they perform in the sim instead of trying to guess their builds and then guess how they would perform based on those builds. IMO it's most important to scout the actual games because you see how the players perform in the sim. Watching tells you more than guessing twice IMO.

But yes, if you look at the bars (particularly in relation to each other) I think you can figure out a small amount about another player's build. That said, they're never good for making comparisons (e.g. Player X with a 51 overall bar is worse than Player Y with a 54 overall bar).

Not exactly true. Balance is a good thing at a lot of positions, especially at higher levels.
