Could someone please tell me what is wrong with my level 26 DE? 0 sacks this season, is his speed too low - would I be better moving his equip to speed?

The strength build seems to be doing okay, Am I better off working up higher strength so I can literally bulldoze OTs off?

Thanks for any help.

Bulldozing OTs does not happen. Ever.

Yep, you won't be bulldozing anyone...but strength is still quite viable.

My DT played 3-4 RE in a scrimmage to try out something different for stopping the run. Their LOT had a great build for shutting down agility guys, but had less than 75 strength. so I took off my agility gear, and went with my old strength gear. I went into that game with 95+ strength, and 13 levels of Strong Base.

They obliged by focusing on running off tackle and outside to the left... I had 1 tackle and was pushed around all game long

You have no idea how helpful everything that you just said is to me. Seriously. I've been trying to prove for a while now that Strength is about as necessary to the OL as it is for the DL, people cried pancake.

I've been trying to say that strength is about as necessary to the OLinemen in GLB as it is to DLinemen, meaning useless. I tried saying it to people, and they got hungry for pancakes, which you can't get without high strength apparently, because, you know, a 300 pound linemen running 20 miles per hour at a 220 pound LB won't flatten him regardless of strength.

well I also have a DE who is being retired this offseason, who has a base of 77 strength at level 24. He wears all strength gear obviously, and has 10 levels of strong base.... I watch him get pancaked several times a game.

IMO the only thing strength is good for is if you are an O-lineman and have some SA's invested heavily that are activated by strength, like shock block.

77 Strength is awesome...10 SB at level 24 means you don't have the other required elements that would make you successful.

He wasn't trying to be successful, he was testing some things. Strength and strong base are both broken for pass rishing is what the test concludes. The fact that he gets pancaked multiple times a game indicates that on top of that, strength isn't even improtant for getting or stopping pancakes which is the only reason many people have put points into strength at all.

My DT has 71 base strength, and when he goes into games against higher levels of OG's who you would expect to have more strength than the lower level OT's my DE faces; with all agility gear and no bonus to strength at all, he doesn't get pancaked. Speed and Agility appear to be at least as important (if not more so) than strength when it comes to getting and stopping pancakes.

The only reason I made a DE with high strength and strong base is because I wanted to test Strong Base. In the DT pass rushing tree you can't get strong base without first putting poins into shed block. Which to me is counter-intuitive since if you want to bull rush the guy and use strong base to push him aside/down then you don't want to shed his block. So I had to make a DE who had access to strong base without investing poins into shed block. Mission accomplished. Strong Base is broken.

A couple of DEs that rely on high strength for their effectiveness:
http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=531445
(my own)

http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=76710
(not mine and I don't know his exact build, but I assure you he has high strength)

Strong base is not a high yield SA right now, I won't argue against that for a moment. The key is that strength does very little on it's own, and the same is true for strong base. You need more pieces to the puzzle...but when it comes to together strength is very solid.

But if your expectation of strong base and high strength is to have that sole combination just push the player in front of you out of the way....you are right, it won't do that, even with 110 strength.

How are we defining high strength?
