BEASTS OF THE EAST
1. South Beach Tokers (8-0)
- Narrowly defeated the Forgotten Ones and Cardiac Kids, but has two solid wins against the Eagles and Lighthouses. Has been a force in the league for some time, is this the year they make it to A #7?
2. Akron Assassins (8-0)
- Missed being #1 due to extremely close wins over North Carolina and the Drunken Skulls. Can anyone stop Benjamin Martinez? Hint at 9:26 in the 1st Quarter - http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=223628&mode=pbp
PLAYOFF TEAMS
3. The Forgotten Ones (6-2)
- Solid around the board. Lost to the Tokers in the 4th quarter. Stopped the Skulls, embarassed the Elks, but was gunned down by Akron. Matchups against the Lighthouses and Eagles will tell where the Forgotten Ones belong in the playoffs. They've only lost to the two undefeated teams this year.
4. North Carolina Lighthouses (6-2)
- Also have only lost to South Beach and Akron. Has a great connection between QB D Marino and WR Slim Ginn. The Tokers interrupted it, can their aerial attack secure them a high seed?
5. New Orleans Eagles (6-2)
- Like the Forgotten Ones and Lighthouses, they have only lost to Akron and South Beach. History gives the Eagles the 5 spot due to being 2-0 in the Battle of New Orleans, however, this years matchup favors the Skulls. This week's game will determine who belongs here.
6. New Orleans Drunken Skulls (5-3)
- Lost to Akron on a missed PAT. Only the Forgotten Ones have been able to stop this big play offense. Inconsistency at times and a hard out-of-conference game may force the Skulls to settle for a higher playoff seed.
ON THE FRINGE
7. Cleveland Cardiac Kids (5-3)
- Was on nobody's radar until they nearly upset South Beach. Low levels will prevent a deep playoff run, but nobody can doubt the quality of the team's builds.
8. Elk Rapids Elk (4-4)
- A 10-point loss to Cleveland bumps this former playoff team into near obscurity. Elk faces a big game against St. Cloud to fight for the final playoff spot.
9. St. Cloud Apneas (6-2)
- Favorable scheduling has this team with six wins, but they have yet to defeat a quality opponent. A rough road is ahead. Can these underdogs take the 8 spot from an established Elk Rapids team?
10. Minnesota Rage (4-4)
- Losses to St. Cloud and Cleveland virtually assure Minnesota will miss the playoffs again. They will need some huge upsets and favorable outcomes to make the playoffs, I don't see it happening.
