Done for Week 6. This'll probably be my last one. Hope you've enjoyed the writeups.

1. Boston Nighthawks (6-0)
Defeated Chicago Mustangs 69-3
Ranking: Unchanged (previous: 1)
Highlight play: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=210251&pbp_id=4807574
Jerry Rückkehr had an outstanding game for the Nighthawks, returning two punts for TDs. This would be the longer of the two. Nice blocking, too.

2. Washington Bullets (6-0)
Defeated Camden Outkasts 97-9
Ranking: Unchanged (previous: 2)
Washington was clearly trying out its passing game on this one as Scott Boonell went 29/37 for 494 yards and 8 TDs. Hence, I'm not going to penalize them for not scoring 170 points on Camden like the Pushovers did. Ken Cote remains one of the premier DEs in the pros.
Highlight play: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=210348&pbp_id=4801269
If you're smacking around a quarterback like this, you deserve your name in lights.

3. Detroit Demon Lions (5-1)
Defeated Philadelphia Continentals 30-0
Ranking: Unchanged (previous: 3)
Not sure what to make of this one. Obviously TSE has to be happy with a rare shutout win, but scoring only 30 points against the Continentals has to have a couple people in Detroit scratching their heads. In any event, the Detroit DEs had a field day against Philadelphia OTs Jim Strong and Surtain Payne, bagging the Continentals QBs for ten sacks.
Highlight play: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=210332&pbp_id=4800701
E.D. Jackson just saaaaaaaaaails right through to a touchdown.

4. Cincinnati Shockers (5-1)
Defeated Gridiron Rage 33-16
Ranking: Unchanged (previous: 4)
The Shockers get it done through the air against the Rage and stay in the 4 spot. Most impressive here was the Shockers D holding Gridiron QB Peter Gallo to 16/32 for 129 yards, zero touchdowns and one pick which was returned for a touchdown.
Highlight play: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=210280&pbp_id=4803690
The aforementioned pick for a TD by Lightning Crash.

5. Philadelphia Pushovers (5-1)
Defeated Kalamazoo Coyotes 97-34
Ranking: Unchanged (previous: 5)
The Pushovers rushed....twice. In other news, quarterbacks Julian Krist and Arik von Hawk combined for this stat line: 52/89 for 886 yards, 11TD, 1INT. The Pushovers also contained K-Zoo standout DE Goliath Jones well, only allowing one sack for five yards.
Highlight play: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=210357&pbp_id=4794798
I call your attention not to the long passing play for a touchdown, but the work of the OTs here in creating and maintaining the pocket. Now that's some damn good work on the line.

6. Orlando Pirates (4-2)
Defeated Doomsday Sin 16-7
Ranking: +2 (previous: 8)
This was an extremely close game decided on two second-half fumbles that the Pirates forced and recovered as Doomsday was in scoring position. Orlando shook off being sacked four times in the first nine downs.
Highlight play: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=210266&pbp_id=4798762
Janet Reno doesn't just wrestle alligators, she forces key fumbles too. This stopped an ominous Sin drive in the third quarter and kept the game 13-7 in Orlando's favor.

7. Doomsday Sin (3-3)
Lost to Orlando Pirates 16-7
Ranking: -1 (previous: 6)
As noted above, the Sin played this game extremely close but after a flurry of body blows to Orlando's QB in their first possession, Doomsday's defense quieted down and did not force a turnover for the entire contest. The game would definitely have been different had the defense been more aggressive.
Highlight play: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=210266&pbp_id=4795900
WR Vince Papali hauls in a Jay Rodd pass for Doomsday's only score.

8. Gridiron Rage (3-3)
Lost to Cincinnati Shockers 33-16
Ranking: -1 (previous: 7)
Gridiron matched Cincinnati punch for punch in the first half and had an impressive 6.3 yards per rush against the Shockers, but they didn't get the game from star QB Peter Gallo that they would have liked. The Rage remain in the playoff bubble tier.
Highlight play: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=210280&pbp_id=4805061
When you collect a fumble in this part of the field, you pretty much know you're getting points. The Rage had this game tied at the half and this is one big reason why.

9. Green Bay Maulers (3-3)
Defeated D.C. Warpath 80-0
Ranking: Unchanged (previous: 9)
Green Bay romped over the hapless Warpath, which doesn't really tell us much about how good the team actually is. Their next opponent is the Continentals, who are locked in trial-and-error mode, so that might not tell us too much either.
Highlight play: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=210353&pbp_id=4805781
I haven't put in a running play here, so it's past time I did. Here's Hh Back taking it in from 88 yards out and avoiding a blob of yellow along the way.

10. Rhode Island Red Wolves (2-4)
Defeated Kentucky Madcats 57-17
Ranking: Unchanged (previous: 10)
The Red Wolves have had a history this season of not being able to catch a break in some close games, so it's good to see them finally win comfortably for once. Greg McBlow (39 carries for 243 yards, 1TD) had an excellent day and Rhode Island was in cruise control by halftime.
Highlight play: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=210293&pbp_id=4806093
Most punts in GLB these days are being returned the other way for TDs, so here's the more traditional approach for those who haven't seen an example lately. Nice 72 yard runback by Chop Bing Pickaderry.

11. Chicago Mustangs (2-4)
Lost to Boston Nighthawks 69-3
Ranking: Unchanged (previous: 11)
If you're still surprised that the once-venerable Chicago Mustangs have fallen this far from grace, you haven't been paying attention. Until someone figures out how to stop Boston's running game - and in this conference, the only one who has a shot at that is the Bullets - the rest of the league is going to be served in similar fashion. Mustangs LB Beef Jerky had 28 tackles, which is just ridiculous.
Highlight play: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=210251&pbp_id=4805822
This pick by DeAngelo Jennings gave Chicago a decent crack at a touchdown, but the drive was killed by a Vick interception. The Vick QB rating watch: 47.1 for the season.

12. Philadelphia Continentals (1-5)
Lost to Detroit Demon Lions 30-0
Ranking: Unchanged (previous: 12)
It seems like this team has fits and starts like a balky jalopy. Sometimes the offense is working and sometimes the defense is working, but so far the two haven't combined for a solid game. The running game, which had shown much promise in the last two contests, got nowhere against DDL but the defense probably outperformed in this game. Looks like Philadelphia needs a few more pieces to the puzzle, and it'll probably start with their DEs and OTs by the looks of things.
Highlight play: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=210332&pbp_id=4795569
This team preaches hitting the ball carrier hard, and SS Mark Gregory lays out E.D. Jackson here, forcing the only turnover of the game. Gregory is averaging nearly a forced fumble a game for the Continentals.

13. Kalamazoo Coyotes (1-5)
Lost to Philadelphia Pushovers 97-34
Ranking: Unchanged (previous: 13)
A pretty good scoring effort on behalf of Kalamazoo - you'd think 34 points would be enough to win some games - but the Pushovers just sat in the pocket and passed all day. Even with a weapon like the Coyotes' Goliath Jones, Kalamazoo just couldn't get pressure on the quarterback. A really ugly, disheartening loss.
Highlight play: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=210357&pbp_id=4795188
I really like this one early on, a forced fumble on a punt returner which allowed the Coyotes to continue their drive early in the game when they were still in it.

14. Kentucky Madcats (1-5)
Lost to Rhode Island Red Wolves 57-17
Ranking: Unchanged (previous: 14)
They've added some players, but critical mass has not yet been achieved. Rhode Island might have a fairly poor record, but they're pretty underrated as they've played some tough teams tough - so this might not be the death knell it seems it is.
Highlight play: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=210293&pbp_id=4803909
Norman Learn gives the Madcats great field position in the first quarter with the score tied 3-3.

15. D.C. Warpath (1-5)
Lost to Green Bay Maulers 80-0
Ranking: Unchanged (previous: 15)
Just not much to like here.
Highlight play: Really couldn't find one.

16. Camden Outkasts (0-6)
Lost to Washington Bullets 97-9
Ranking: Unchanged (previous: 16)
Highlight play: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=210332&pbp_id=4795569
You've got to admit, this is a pretty pass to the TE. Touchdown Camden.

Not that it matters, but I was messing around with a different O AI for the Philly game. Obviously it wasn't a more pass situation like Washington. Mostly it was a very specific input/output system. It didn't work out like I had hoped and the score was definitely a reflection of that.

Regardless, good game Philly.

Good game to you too. Yeah, our new offensive AI settings blew chow too - not that you couldn't notice that from the score. LOL. We'll get it right soon though.

Heyy I thought my D-calls had something to do with it too! Lol
I see what your saying though, usually a GLB shutout is more reflective of O-AI than defense cuz theres always an opportunity to put points up even if tis just 3. The game was closer than the score reflected.

They totally did - I'm not taking anything away from you guys. But we are playing with a whole lot of different things just to accelerate the USA Pro learning curve. It's been pretty brutal so far.

For some reason I don't think CV would be the best at telling stories to little children.
