Return to the Throne
1(2) - Bangkok Seamen(5-0) - The only team they didn't completely dominate was the Tire Fires, and even then they put up 369 yards on the ground and pulled away in the fourth. The #1 seed is there for the taking, and Bangkok needs to just take things one game at a time. They were in the same situation before when a certain team from Singapore came around and knocked them off.
Next week vs Pattaya Partisans - How high does the scoreboard go?
Looking for the number one spot
2(1) - East St Louis Tire Fires(4-1) - The 2-300 were embarrased by Ricky Watters and company, but bounced back to hold Manila to a respectable 3 yards per carry. This is a team that prides themselves on stopping the run however, and can not be happy with either of those games. They have 6 probable wins remaining, Phuket this week, the Jeanhorns who they have dominated in the past, and the wildcard Katanas. Just winning those would put them at 13 wins and a home playoff game.
Next week vs Phuket All - Phuket All usually plays the Tire Fires close, but has struggled of late. ESL takes this one.
3(4) - Singapore Marauders(5-0) - Singapore has beat Bandar, but everyone else you would expect them to defeat. They are playing some great football, and Bangkok in 3 weeks must be circled. They have to remember to not look past Niagara or Mekong, and with wins against both will be battling for first place in Bangkok Stadium.
Next week at Niagara Jeanhorns - Meth Head will prove to be too much as Singapore rolls towards a showdown with the Seamen
4(3) - Manila Hitmen(4-1) - Tough loss to the Tar Fars in a hard fought enstallment of "The Thilla in Manila" The Hitmen need to bounce right back however as another old foe comes to town, the Pigskin Pirates. This team is a very good team, and should be battling for a home playoff game down to the end. At the least I see them with 10 wins, but they also have the ability to go 15-1 imo.
Next week at Bandar Lampung Pigskin Pirates *GAME OF THE WEEK* - Manila has been waiting for this a long time now I guess, and I expect them to edge Bandar in the end. Prediction - Manila in OT
5(5) - Bandar Lampung Pigskin Pirates(4-1) - Bandar has played no one of note besides the Marauders and they were dominated. They have 4 definite wins remaining, and should beat the Jeanhorns, Monsoon and Phuket. The Katanas are a wildcard. If they beat the Hitmen and Tar Far the next 2 weeks, there week 13 showdown with Bangkok could possibly be for the 1st or 2nd seed.
Next week vs Manila Hitmen *GAME OF THE WEEK* - Bandars only true test they lost this season, although the same could be said of the Hitmen. The Hitmen though take this one in OT
Battling for position
6(6) - Kamakura Katanas(5-0) - A close call against the Jeanhorns, but the Katanas pulled it out. This team has impressed me, and the next two weeks will show everyone just who these guys are. It took until the very end against the Jeanhorns, and with Bangkok coming up, it might be hard to not look past the Monsoon a little. That would be fatal.
Next week at Mekong Monsoon - Since I still don't know alot about these guys, I have to go with the Monsoon.
7(8) - Mekong Monsoon(3-2) - Mekong has only lost to ESL and Bangkok. They are assured of 4 wins, and should beat the Gamblers and Gothic as well. This team is also capable of beating anyone on any day, and still has a shot at a home playoff game.
Next week vs Kamakura Katanas - This game has playoff tiebreaker implications, and neither team can afford to drop it. I know the Monsoon better, so I have to go with them this game.
8(7) - Niagara Jeanhorns(2-3) - Jeanhorns did what they needed to vs Phuket, but dropped a heartbreaker to the Katanas. This is a gritty, hard working team that is still learning how to win and improving every week. They have 4 definite wins, the Gothic and Gamblers which they should beat, and the Monsoon game week 16, which could be there ticket to the playoffs. If they can upset one of the upper echelon teams as well, they are almost guaranteed a trip to the post season, possibly more.
Next week vs Singapore Marauders - Singapore is playing excellent football and last time they met Meth Head eclipsed 200 yards. Singapore takes this one
Need to get on the right track....NOW
9(9) - Phuket All(1-4) - Phuket All has not seemed the same recently, most apparent in the gap that has developed between All and Bangkok. A former powerhouse, they have definitely been in a slump, and need to snap out of it quickly. Luckily, they still need to face the bottom 5 teams in there last 11 games, and can still bounce back.
Next week vs ESL - Phuket has always played ESL close, and I would expect another close fought game despite Phuket's recent struggles. Because of that though, i'm picking ESL to get the win
10(11) - Chaiyaphum Gothic(2-3) - The Gothic get to 500 this week. Then, they need to pull a couple upsets or the playoffs will be out of reach in a hurry. The bulk of there schedule remains, and it's going to be an uphill battle for them. Even still, 8-8 is the absolute highest I realistly see them getting without some changes.
Next week vs Sumatra Swarm - Gothic
11(10) - Macau Gamblers(1-4) - On the bright side, they should win there next three. On the flip side, they have to still play Manila, Bandar, ESL, Niagara, Mekong and Bangkok. Even the Gothic they will have a tough time winning. I don't see any chance of them making the playoffs.
Next week vs Holbrook Roadrunners - Macau
Would benefit from dropping down a level
No offense to either of these teams, but since i've been in the Pros they just haven't been competitive
12(12) - Holbrook Roadrunners(1-4) -
13(13) - Tokyo Whalers(1-4)
Why are they even here?
Please no CPU teams next season, seriously.
14(14) - Foxboro Full Blast - CPU(1-4)
15(15) - Sumatra Swarm(0-5)
16(16) - Pattaya Partisans - CPU(0-5)
