We have good depth at LB, and are thin at d-line, so we opt for the 3-4 in most situations. We're getting hammered with the run lately, and can't seem to stop it very well. Any AI suggestions on what to do to help shut down the running game?

It's more build based than AI based, you need a pretty stud DL that can force the OL to have to double team the NT in order to free up LBs. If you're against a quality offensive line most of the time that doesn't happen and you're vunerable against the run I'd suggest going to a hybrid defense that allowed you to run some 4-3 on high percentage rushing downs.

Ok thanks. Are there other options with bringing up the SS to help with the run? Is that fairly successful?

Seems like bringing up the SS would help. I think high vision OLBs might help too. We're having similar problems even with a pretty good nosetackle, so there might not be any easy answers.

Anyone have any 'non-easy' answers?
