Due to the sudden dearth of postings, I figured I'd try to throw something up. I barely know the West at this point ... can't even try the East yet.
Midwest Mayhem at Chicago Maroons
The week 3 leader who's gone AWOL on us travels to the Windy City for a game against the mysterious Maroons. Midwest, apparently owned by an Irsay relative, packed up in the middle of the night and left a couple games back. In their place stands a group of upper-middle CPU players who have done enough to march off a 3 game win streak.
Chicago boasts a top shelf lineup, yet didn't show well in games against Akron or Sioux Falls. However, they reminded us how dominant they can be in stomping San Diego last week. Clearly this Chicago team should have no problem with their Midwest bretheren, and look to kick off a return to Western prominence in week 4.
Prediction: Maroons turn Midwest pink 106-6
Sioux Falls Storm at Savannah Lions
One of the most interesting matchups of the early season, Western heavyweight and presumptive #1 seed takes on new arrival Savannah in their own den. The Storm seeks to continue their impressive shutout streak that now stands at 180 minutes.
Unlike other relegated/rebuilding teams, the Lions are more than just roar. A nicely developed roster puts them in the upper half of the league, although the week 2 trouncing by Rocky Mountain was certainly not encouraging for this hopeful franchise. Did the convincing week 3 victory set the Lions on the right path? Or will the mighty Storm ground attack
Prediction: Storm warnings prove correct: 86-3
Death Valley Shadowblades vs Rocky Mountain Thunder
A key early season matchup for both teams in what has historically produced close games. Last last season's contest even went to Overtime before DV escaped with a 3 point victory.
The Thunder is even stronger this season, and has already flexed is muscles in impressive victories over Savannah and Southside. They are poised for greatness in Season 6, and are looking to cap the first quarter of the season on a roll.
Death Valley comes off a one point squeaker over USMC, and remains hopeful the lucky bounces fall their way once more. Can they pull off the upset again?
Prediction: RMT & DV will play a game between 10:30 & 11pm EST Monday night. The winner will be very, very happy. The loser, not so much.
Burleson Assasins vs Dixie Normus
Another well built relegation, Burleson looks to continue their triple digit streak against slow building Dixie. Dixie is clearly working on a long term platform, while Burleson is ready to challenge the conference elite right now.
Prediction: The Assasins use remote mines in this one: 223-0
USMC at Dead Broke
USMC gets another team in transition to take out their week 3 frustrations. Broke is still predominantly composed of CPU players, but they'll get there in the long run. Unfortunately, the long run won't help them now as they attempt to avoid giving up 80 in the first quarter to a band of pissed off, rampaging Misguided.
Prediction: USMC does it's killin' fast and early: 235-0
Ivalice Tactianers vs San Diego Surf Dawgz
Ivalice looks to get their season of Great Expectations on track as they host the rebuilding Surf Dawgz. After toiling near the bottom of The 15 during their rebuilding stages, Ivalice came into Season 6 with renewed hope, and a firm belief their time has arrived. But a crossover stumble in week 1, followed by a week 3 shutout by Sioux Falls may have shaken their early confidence.
The Surf Dawgz, meanwhile, are valiantly trying to rebuild for today, but finding there just aren't enough quality players available. Still, they have assembled a nice core, and are definitely on the right track. Do they have enough to upset the Tactianers?
Prediction: Balbanes & Kletian get reacquainted in a 58-23 victory
Allen East Mustangs vs Las Vegas Miscreants
The Mustangs host what appears to be the beginnings of another slow build, although most of the Miscreants are robotic. Hey, at least they're cheap, right? Allen East is also dominated by bots, but are led by a few respectable live bodies. AE had an unfortunate experience with bots in week 3, but should have no trouble handling these fledgling nuts & bolts.
Prediction: Mustangs in a stampede, 135-20
Southside Spartans vs Chicago Beasts
The Spartans look for their first win on the season after rapidly building in the depths of the West last season. They are well led and now have quality players to match. Their early season woes aside, the Spartans look like a team poised for a playoff year.
Our 2nd entry from Chicago was relegated to our little family in the offseason, but has made no secret of their intentions. A slow build team prior to relegation, they are well on their way to respectability, and are eyeing a Season 7 playoff run as their target. Built solid and slow, they probably aren't quite ready to knock off one of the existing 15 rebuild.
Prediction: Southside gives a glimpse of the future to Chicago: 41-13
That's it from the cheap seats ... feel free to chime in as desired!
