After a lot of thinking i have decided to sell the team back to GLB.
It's a really hard decision as i have owned this team since season 1, starting in AAA, moving to the PROs and reaching the playoffs on every season. We have created some nice and fun rivalries over time, specially with my friend team Berlin Blitzkrieg, that also started in AAA with us.
We leave the game with the head well up. The Toledo Swords have always been a playoffs team, and i hope we will be remembered by our explosive vertical passing offense, that put our receivers and QB into the top leader boards every season.
We have also the max stadium built and 100 Millions cash, so the team financial status was at the top. As the team cash is reset when a new owner takes over the team, i have decided to give a big chunk to every Sword player to buy equipment and a generous bonus to pay their loyalty over all the seasons.
The team sale will be effective on Sunday, to give time to my players to sign their new contracts and get the max cash for equipment fm the team reserves.
There are some reasons for this decision taken, but the main one is that i have lost the interest on running a team. With the tactics changing every season, the player builds nerfs again every season without notice, the impossibility to recruit players as backups, etc, it was more of a full time job than a hobby.
A big problem of GLB compared with real life is that everybody wants to be the starter in a team, so when you offer them to be backups, they prefer to go to a lower league team and be the stars there.
I can underestand it, as unlike in real life where players have real prestige for being in a top team and specially real cash contracts, there is little interest on being a backup in GLB as right now it's more fun to be a star somewhere else, unless you are in a team with great owner and team mates and a really active forum, but that community enjoyment is built over time, that is why most of our teams are formed by loyal players that have built a nice friendship over time, and it's hard to convince new players about how fun will be to be part of a team even as backup.
As i said, the team sale will be done on Sunday, and the team will become CPU owned so all the players will be able to accept other teams offers from Sunday if i'm not mistaken.
Good luck to everybody in the Western Europe PRO league. It's been so fun to play against you, to read the awesome articles and previews written in this forum and in resume to be part of this great community. We have lost or first two games, so if this team loses all the games from now, at least we won't have affected the league outcome at all.
Big thanks to all my team players, i really appreciate your loyalty as we already talked in our team forum when i posted about this yesterday, hope the best for you all.
Final note:
I'm only retiring as owner, but not as players agent. My players already in the Swords (not the others) will look for a new home in competitive teams so you can start to spam my PM box
(in fact some have already, news spread fast).
I'm looking for competitive teams with an active forum and a nice community, so i wont' miss the Swords one as much. Cash won't be the decision factor at all as my players have enough for a while.
Please if you PM me, tell me about your team organization, GMs, philosophy and future. Probably I'll also want to take a look at your forum to see how active it is.
