Here's the Play:

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=253194&pbp_id=2165218

According to my Defense AI this should pull up the Quarter(3-1-7). Yet this doesn't look look like a 3-1-7 to me, since I have 4 dline? And when I test it says it will be (3-1-7).. I even have this one set as the 2nd play right after my Goal line one. Help?

We would have to see the AI.

That's a 4-1-6 Dime. I've never had a problem getting a Quarter called against a 5 WR, so I would assume it is something in your AI.

Check what your set-up for opposing formation is. Just leave it blank and make 5WR your only input. Also check that you don't have anything set for down or distance.

Actually, I've run into the same problem on 5WR sets and, like you, the AI tester says it should run a 317 as I would like, but come game time I get a 416 w/ a LB on WR5. I reported it in the bugs forum.

You probably have your dime defense set to 4-5 receivers. And it's listed above your quarter defense on your AI...

The AI is as Follows:

Time Remaining in quarter
less than BLANK seconds
Ball Spot (yard line)
Between ANY and ANY
Down
Between 1 and 4
Yards to first down
Between BLANK and BLANK

Score Difference
Between BLANK and BLANK
Opponent's Formation ANY FORMATION
Number of WR's in Set
Between 5 and 5

My Timeouts Left ANY
Opponent Timeouts Left ANY

I have blanked out all that I can, put ANY in anything that won't blank, and it defaults to downs 1 through 4 when I blank them out.

As I posted in the Original Post.. this rule is 2nd from the Top, following the Goal Line defense, which has nothing to do with 5 receivers. 4 receiver formation is after 5 on the list, and seperate.

Sorry, skimmed over it.
Can you post what that dime formation in the replay was from your AI? Or is it also a non-restricted output?

would the Dime(Man)from the Playbook be a 4-1-6? That's the only DIME that I have somewhere that's not accounted for(meaning not a 4-1-6).

Upon further looking, it seems that the playbooks Dime(man) is indead the 4-1-6. It is the 3rd Play in my Book after 5WR to handle the 4WR sets. I just don't understand how it can get to that?

Order of Book:
Goal Line
5 WR(3-1-7)
4 WR(4-1-6)

Ok then, another side question.. NOw that I know the Dime(Man) from Borts Playbook is a 4-1-6, is that a good call for a 4WR set? or should I do something different?

Currently, there aren't any 4WR sets, so don't worry about it. And by the way, IMHO the 3-1-7 sucks unless you have a serious DL-OL mismatch. It's almost impossible to get any pressure on the QB. I prefer the 4-1-6, cover 0 man under. Blitz the LB or leave him to cover the TE, and then you'll get safety man on one of the WRs that isn't covered by a CB.

There are no set 4WR sets but a good OC with the proper tools can make it look like a 4WR set and trust me that works like a champ.

ok let me refine my question - when there are 4wr out there.. how should I cover them?

I don't DC I just OC hehe. I would say builds has a lot to do with it.

But I would think a dime look with the 2 safeties playing over the top. I haven't seen anyone except my QB stop us in my 4WR sets.

Unless you count putting a WR at the TE spot a 4WR set.
