I thought now would be the right time to start doing my rankings again, and have another opinion besides FDC and larkis' opinions - you can never have too many
I'm just taking a break from filling in what will be numerous inevitably unsucsessful job applications at the moment so I'm just gonna write comments for the top 8 as I'm all worded out at the moment
I'm sure there'll be plenty of movement in the coming weeks but for now:
1 Black Watch (2-0)
The newly promoted side shoot straight to the top of my first rankings of the season after two dominating wins in their opening two contests. With a versatile 3-man backfield and a pass D which thus far has been impressive, snagging 9 interceptions, can Black Watch follow in the footsteps of Woodridge and Paris and be dominant in their first season in the Pro's?
2 London Monarchs (2-0)
I wanted to rank my own team at number one but Black Watch have made the more impressive start and I don't want to be seen as a homer
Last season's finalists in the Alpha conference championship game look to go one further this year - they've gone about it the right way so far, with two high scoring victories although there is still room for improvement. A very interesting matchup with Black Watch looms in week 4.
3 E-City Mercenaries (1-1)
After the disappointing showing from the Alpha contingent in last week's inter-conference game, it's going to be difficult ranking the rest of the teams. So, I'm going to go for the Mercs at number 3, after they put up a decent showing in a close loss last week to Multiple Scorgasms, followed by a narrow win over unpredictable Toledo this week.
4 Woodridge Lumberjacks (1-1)
I'm not going to say that the Lumberjacks don't have that aura of invincibility again because no doubt they'll go on a dominating winning run like last season. We all know they're beatable as found out last season but WuJax have an offense that is more than capable of consistently scoring, ad a defense that can be just nasty if you're not on your game.
5 Paris Philarmonic (1-1)
I would rank Paris lower but they're up here still by virtue of them being reigning WEPL champions. Maybe there's some sort of 'surprise factor' that's gone this season, but the memories of last season's championship win are long gone with their less than impressive start to the season. They started badly last season so let's see if the improvement is repeated...
6 Dinas Mawddwy Red Bandits (1-1)
It's difficult to judge the Red Bandits completely. They were beaten by one of the favourites for the Zeta crown last week against Korb, but didn't do as badly as some of their Alpha counterparts considering it was their debut Pro League performance. They beat Carthage, arguably one of the weaker teams quite comfortably, but we'll learn more about them in the coming weeks.
7 Stuttgart Nighthawks (1-1)
The Nighthawks were one of the lower ranked teams last year, but they've started brightly in their opening two games with victory in their inter-conference game and a narror loss against Paris this week. They'll rue the fact that they're not 2-0, giving up 17 straight points in the final quarter, losing on a field goal with 12 seconds left on the clock.
8 Wembley Warriors (1-1)
After a disappointing opening day loss, the Warriors bounced back this week with an impressive defensive display in their first local derby with newly promoted London Minotaurs. Inconsistency has plagued the last couple of seasons for the Warriors so it should be interesting to see if they can string some wins together now.
9 London Minotaurs (1-1)
10 Chicago Rocks (1-1)
11 Lake Charles Who Dats (1-1)
12 Toledo Swords (0-2)
13 Aberdeen Wrecking Cre (0-2)
14 Fighting Texas Aggies (0-2)
15 Berlin Blitzkrieg (0-2)
16 Carthage Army of Darkness (0-2)
