How would you gameplan vs an opponent with similarly leveled CBs and starting SS/FS (similar as compared to my starting WRs and TE), but only has 3 CBs total?
Looks like he plays the starting FS and then SS as CB #4 and #5, then plug the backups in at FS/SS, which are lower leveled.
Our lines appear to at least be similarly matched, maybe even slight advantage me. But we are a run-blocking team and have problems with holding blocks on long passes in the past.

Any advice?

You can use Single Back, Shotgun, and Shotgun 5 WR sets to deplete their energy.

On long passes try telling the HB and/or TE to pass block in order to help protect your QB.

I would guess that the energy depeltion would go both ways?
I'm not that deep at WR/TE (we are a run-first team).

My top 2 WRs and TE can hold their own. Their starting FS/SS (played as CB4/5) outlevel my WRs 4 and 5, but I'm thinking there has got to be some potential mismatch with the lower lv FS/SS starting in their 4 and 5 CB sets.

Ah...I see what you're what you're saying.

Well, you could put your starters further down the depth chart and hope they get matched up against their subs, but there are too many variables to be able to predict that. You would also risk a mismatch with their starting corners vs. your backup WR's.

Your best bet would probably be to wait until the second half to start your air assault. With only 3 CB's you could start eating them alive. Hopefully you can run on them a lot in the 1st half - eat the clock and tire their defense out. If you can run on them they'll be suckin'!

Never considerd that, thanks for the feedback!

5WRs?

Go mostly 3WR sets

WR1 WR2 WR5 TE1
WR3 WR4 TE2 TE2

Go 98/99, WRs will always stay fresh. CBs will take a beating.

IMO

Does defense use up more energy than ofense?

But I want to be able to take advange of the low level SS/FS that fill in with the starting SS/FS moving over to CB4/5.

I had this similar instance in my first game, low depth on their cb's so I ran many 5wr shotguns and long pass plays. I ended up beating myself , probably because my wr's all got tired so be careful with this. I think what radardog said and going with 3wr sets might be your best bet. If you have 5wr's they won't get as tired rotating in 3 spots but they're 3 cb's will get tired playing every play.

This is what I'm afraid of. We area run-oriented team anyway, but dont wanna neutralize any advantage we might be able to pickup in the passing game by running my WRs ragged.
Also as a side note: I guess I should take the WR off KR/PR?

Ahh, I get it.
I've been focused on trying to exploit the backup FS/SS when they come in for the 4/5 CB sets, but I see this would be just as effective. Then maybe start going 5-WR in the 3rd or 4th quarter to further wear down the secondary.
Nice.

Open up on them late 3rd & all 4th Qt.
Passing 90%
Med 20
Long 80

Try o get 4-5 WR Sets against them.
Rotate threw your WR - maybe put lower lvl in front to keep the starters fresher.

It really helps to have 6 WR to go up against a lot of teams since most teams are pretty weak in the secondary positions especially since a lot of them are really weak on speed.

Also if you put a possession receiver on their fastest guy you will still get catches from him and make the slower CB try to cover your faster guys.

Right now a lot of people have decent run defenses but are very poor against a strong offense. There was a post earlier about the spread offense. I truly believe that the spread offense works wonders against a weak secondary which was what it was designed to do in real life.

But all this being said if you only have 2 or 3 good WR stick to your strengths more than trying to attack their weaknesses.

be patient and grind them down, 3WR sets are very useful, especially as they can throw the occasional inside run too. 5WR sets are too bland and will exhaust your reciever corp.

in the 4thQ you should have enough in the tank to bomb away
