I'm curious as to if anyone tried to build a possession receiver with high str (70+). Reason why I think this may actually be decent is because most CB's have incredibly low str. At 70+ str, you can pretty much break tackles at will. Even SS might have trouble breaking tackles.

Well I actually tried this got to over 60 strength and retired him. He couldn't get open, it would take til level like 30 to become effective enough to even get the ball and i dont have that kind of patience.. You can try but even when my guy managed to get the ball he didn't break tackles

I don't see why people think that high strength = auto break tackle. Powerbacks aren't that great anymore... and they get the benefit of power rushing SAs. With a WR, you would have to just hope that you could run a guy over. I'd much, much rather have high agility to try and break tackles. At least that has other utility for a WR, and there are SAs that would actually help you.

I see a few break tackles from moderate strength, although mine is all trained.

The problem with high strength WRs is no high level people admit to having them. It isn't even a minor skill for WRs. In order to accurately test a high strength WR you need to add it when catching, agility and speed are built up to an adequate level. Most people scrap that experiment before then because of its ineffectiveness.

Cassius Clay has high strength.

Cassius Clay is a beast , but I think it's because of his high kicking . This enables him to sweep legs more effectively

Alright, OP, TheScientist has listed a high level high strength WR. I'm sure The Scientist would agree to add the strength as a 4th attribute after catching, speed and agility have been taken, right?

Cassius Clay should be renamed The Pinball Wizard.

you dont need super high strength to break tackles. 40ish seems to work good

High str recivers isnt all about breaking tackles, its about how physicle of a blocker you are and how you can easily break jams the cb try to put on you, for example, look at hines ward

You can jam receivers in this game?

Oh yeah, you can't.

I would say you don't need super high strength to break CB tackles. Most CB's don't have very high tackling or strength. 60+ Strength would detriment your "getting open" attributes too much.

Breaking tackles has a lot to do with velocity (rate of motion), not only strength is a factor; and that's a logical process as well as what's included in the code.

So if you want to break tackles as a WR (which in my opinion is stupid, but to each their own) you want high strength, agility, and speed. On top of that since you're a WR you need catching, vision, and jumping to some decent number. Plus stamina and confidence are important for all players.

Then you have to consider that strength never sees automatic stat raises from level gains so figures like the soft cap are irrelevant except for stat value cutoffs. This means you won't ever get any more value than you pay for from the attribute, unlike 8 others (WRs already have a lot to balance without worrying about strength).

And of course you have SAs. If your policy is that your attributes support your SAs you won't be spending into those until at least level 20, having to raise another attribute will push that number back by a considerable figure.

Not only that, but there are probably better experiments one could do. IE: Gee, what would decent blocking/vision combo do for my running game? If I raise jumping and possession SAs will I catch a higher frequency of balls?

^those things would likely benefit your team more than having the strength to break three tackles a game, if that, and I'm being generous.

TL;DR = Train strength

Think that's me easily overcoming the jam by a level 39 CB (I'm level 31) and scoring a TD.

If you're going to have a high strength WR you should build him in this order imo

1. Speed
2. Strength
3. Catching
4. Agility
