In general, I mean. It's hard to find decent opinions on various plays without a search function and as a newb OC I'd just like to know if there are any plays in the default book that should be thrown out?

I think I vaguely remember some references to pitches and how awful they are but any advice would be great.

Yes I would. We removed a lot. It depends partly on the makeup of your team so I can't say which ones.

If you have a slow HB and a slow FB, you might want to limit your pitches to the outside, etc.

If you have a crappy TE, well, I wouldn't keep many plays in the book that have him as the primary target.

Even in those situations, you need to use a little judgement though.

There are lots more like that.

I went through the game film to see which plays almost always failed and then removed them from our playbook. You will have two scrimmage games worth of data, so that's a good starting point. And not all pitches are awful, it just depends on your team and your league.

I personally have a very balanced team which allows me to use the full playbook. Now my Offensive AI tactics is really really long since I have a lot of plays by formation set up since I don't want to have the shotgun inside HB run from the .5 yard line and stuff like that. But with a bit of work you can make it work out well. Since I would use something like that to help keep the defense a bit honest if we are down late so that way he can't 100% blitz since I can still run some.

It worked pretty well for Texas Tech last night.

What is the play that is a delayed hand-off to the HB and then he runs it up the middle? It aggrivates me to no end.

I would have to say that it all depends on how you set up your game plan. If you run the shotgun draw when they are blitzing to run stop you will lose 2 to 3 yards. If they are playing you to pass you can gain some good yardage with this. The problem before was that it was one of the common inside runs so it would come up on 1st and 10 or 3rd and 1 and then didn't have a shot against even a decent DC. Now if you just put it on 3rd and longs it can help keep a defense honest. So a lot of it depends on how you scheme. It also works wonders from what I have seen from the few who have tried spread offenses.
