Is the First Step SA important for a pass rushing DE ? Mine only has 4 in this attribute, I wonder if I have to increase this value or not.

Thoughts ?

In the NFL, the best pass rushing defensive ends have the best burst off the snap, so if GLB is anything like the NFL, First Step is one of the best SAs you can have for a DE.

Its complete garbage and a black hole for points. I have seen DEs with 9 and 10 in first step, and their production is a complete joke when compared to real elite DEs in this game.

you eventually have to put some points into it for the rest of the pass rush tree but its not something most concentrate on.

Ideally, you probably want to fill out your entire PR Tree at a certain point. First Step gives you burst off the snap, Change Direction lets you get around the lineman, Shed Block sheds a block if you get blocked at all, and Tunnel Vision is win.

A rule of thumb I had stumbled on was if you had speed>agility, it makes more sense to put (more) points into Quick Cut. If agility>speed, First Step then has a pretty good value. Can't vouch from personal experience as to its success though.

I beg to differ.

I'm not lying. The two DEs I have seen with high first step (7~9), 90 spd, 60 agi, are terrible.

Generally your opinions are pretty valuable, but two DE's aren't a great sample size & the post above said that First Step is more valuable with Agility > Speed. The example there involves Speed which is MUCH greater than Agility.

Does anyone have or know of a DE with more agility than speed and high First Step?

They have also tried pure agility gear, with no improvements (season 5). Sacrificing speed seemed to make them even more ineffective. Like you said, small sample size...

I have slow built a DE, he has 11 first step, with 3rd cap agility and speed. I will post my results, the first game was 2 tackles and 1 hurry. He is the only threat on the D line at the moment as the rest are CPUs, so not sure how much that will affect things.
