AI has 3 options here:

Outside run
Outside run - Handoff
Outside run - Pitch

Which category would Off tackle fall under? Outside run? or Outside run - Handoff?

In the playbook there is 4 Outside run plays that say Handoff. Are only these 4 plays considered handoffs?

Is 'Outside run' contain both pitches and handoff? or is 'Outside run' NON PITCHES, and NON HANDOFFS?

Thanks

Outside run should be everything (handoffs and pitches).

Off-tackle (I would assume) is a handoff.

See that is where I am confused. I agree with your logic here and would like outside run to include both handoffs and piches.

So if I wanted to just run Off Tackle I would have to choose Outside run - Handoff and exclude all non off tackle plays in the playbook for outside runs?

Okay the basic outside run can be either the pitch or the off-tackle. Outside run is the handoff like you said. Then off-tackle pitch is a pitch. What most people do is break down their offensive AI so that a certain % is a pitch and a different % is a outside run.

so out of the strong I, an outside run and be off-tackle to the power side or a run to the weakside without the fb leading the way. that seems new from last season.

does anybody know if run right / left changes the formation strong I could go left, or if it simply forces the example above left or right (with the strong I formation fb/te on the right side of the field)?

That's what I did, just remove whatever outside HB plays you won't ever want to run and choose Outside Run (or Outside Run Handoff) and HB.

how important is WR blocking on outside runs?

It isn't. Remember the CB you're lined up against isn't very strong. He's built to stop receivers. It ends up being a push.

So if a WR were to set training to strength and Blocking and go it up to something respectable, wouldnt it be a big advantage in the outside run game?

My CB's have 25+ STR - and they push of WR's all the time for pitch type tackles.

Just to second the Spartan, this could help a lot. I know it could/would abuse my corners.

Only caveat is that you need an OC who want to make this a big part of your playbook and you need to convince a bunch of prima donna wide receivers that they need to hit the weight room.
