Is there a way to see how many times [without watching game film] that a team threw on a CB? I think there are some GreaseMonkey scripts which show accumulated stats while watching relays and they show how many times a WR was a target. However, that only tells part of the story.

Anything to see if a CB is even being challenged?

Interesting... I haven't seen it. But I frequent a Browns message board and we were talking about it would be great if the NFL tracked the following kind of stats.

1.) How many times did CB XYZ have his covered WR targeted by the QB?
2a.) How many were completed?
2b.) Did he make the tackle?
- Solo?
3.) How many were deflected or batted down?
4.) How many were intercepted?

These items are critical to really seeing how effective a CB is. But I don't know of any site that tracks it. I would love to see it if someone knows of a site that does.

Kind of off-topic to the OP, but I'm pretty sure the premium database at www.footballoutsiders.com does this.

EDIT: and by proxy, the book pro football prospectus that is released every year should, too.

I thought it happened IRL.

I was just wondering if there was any in-game method.

So many people pawn off with the "other guy sucked so I got no stats" excuse. I'd just like to see it for my own metrics, as well.

I'd love to see that in GLB.

People judge CB quality by how many interceptions the player had. That's a poor assessment however, because crappy CBs will get thrown at a lot, giving them a ton of chances for ints. Meanwhile CBs that can cover end up shutting their WR down and getting few ints/tackles... And tackling a lot of WRs that were supposed to be covered by other CBs.

Build a CB with about a 1:1 Speed to agility ratio, with high vision and you'll see maybe one pass per quarter come your way.

depends if you want a playmaker or a shutdown corner.

contrary to popular belief on here, INTs do help you win games.
