Hey guys, I posted my plans for the TE I created in a previous thread and now have an update at the end of the season.

Thanks, and I get what your saying, but I'm thinking that maybe if I have a great route runner I will be open more than 3-6 times/game. Obviously I will still have some speed to help with separation, but with high agility and some SA's I could be open all day for a 5-10 yard completion. We'll see how things go in a few seasons as I am Slow Building towards the softcaps. What do you guys recommend for strength in a receiving TE?

Build is open:

First thing I did was cap agility, then trained and saved SP for speed. Pumped it up for today's game and will cap it after leveling tomorrow. As far as stats go, today wasn't a great game. But with sub 20 catching, I don't expect to dominate yet. The thing I was very pleased with however was the 9 passes thrown my way (not worried about the 5 drops). Pumping that speed really paid off and I was open all day:

As I said, nothing spectacular here, but I consistently got separation which makes me anxious to see how I produce in the future.

Now for the build advice. I will be leveling tomorrow and boosting 3x as late as I can leaving me with 21 SP. The next major stat I would like to soft cap is catching but there's only one problem, stamina. My current stamina is a mere 11 without equipment since I wanted to softcap Speed and Agi as quickly as possible. But with my contract expiring early next season, I am going to have to improve that some time in the near future. I'm thinking that somewhere around 25 will be sufficient throughout next season, but I'm not exactly sure when/how many SP's I should put into it or train it.

For my actual building plan for next season any input is greatly appreciated. I'm thinking something along the lines of this:

- Train Jump/Stamina on intense for the remainder of the season
- Boost in the off season (+ my lvl tomorrow) and spend my 21 SP. 14 in stamina to 25, the other 7 in catching to 25
- Buy Custom and move all other equipment over to Agility giving me 63 (including equipment)
- Start next season at lvl 13 training Jump/Vision
- Put all SP's into catch until 48 (likely lvl 18 by this time and near season's end)
- Upgrade all equipment at Lvl 16 to give me around 67
- Boost in the off season again 3x (long time away so will not decide what to do with those SP's until later)

So if everything goes to plan, including equipment and quick calculations (is it 0.25/level for Speed/Agi/Catch/Strength?) with auto-level increases, I will end season 6 at approximately:

Lvl 21

Agility-70 (base 52)
Speed-50-51
Catching-49
Stamina-25ish (is there auto level increases?
Jumping around 20
Vision around 25

And 15 SP left to spare

This is the first player I have really slow build, so I just want to know from some experts if I have a decent plan. Thoughts, opinions, and ideas to make my build better or more efficent will be greatly appreciated. Hopefully by Season 7 I can be a solid receiving option at TE!

To those who finished reading the whole thing, thanks. Didn't plan on making this so long but I just want to make the best player I possibly can, and until this season had ZERO knowledge of TE builds. Thanks again and I look forward to hearing what you guys think

No it's not... it's 0.5 for str/blocking/catching/vision until 22 and it's .17 for agi/spd/con/carry/stam/tackling

Your build kinda looks like mine... and yes it works pretty well. I am the backup TE and the slot receiver on my team.

My totally nonsensical recomendation would be to
1. train intense jumping/sta as you mentioned the rest of this season

2. I would put 3 points into Speed to soft cap that and the remainder of the 21 post boosting into agi that should get you real close if not to natural 60 the 3-1 cap

3.As for CE gear go ahead and put that into AGI and of course the Receiving tree but leave your current gear into STA until that is around natural 20 from training then switch to the intense train Jump/Catch while adding lvl points into catch until its around 30-35 then you might consider going the SA route just in the first 3 Route Run Sticky hands and Quick cut and depending on how experimental you want to be determines how early you want to jack those 3 SA's up .

Just my 2 cents ( and that might be all its worth

Seems like you have a solid plan.
I look forward to the end results.

The only thing I'm wondering is what some of the LBs were doing in those replays.

By the way, once some of your attributes are up to a fairly decent goal, which receiving SAs do you plan to invest in?

I'm thinking Route Run, Quick Cut, and Sticky hands in that order.

dude, if I were you I would not put any points into stamina, or at least not 14. you seemed to have this build planed long term and investing that many points is a big waste imo. I would train it for the rest of this season and for the rest of next season, and maybe devote some equipment to it for the time being to get you over the hump. just redo your equipment when you've trained your stamina to a decent level

your gonna be on a capped team anyway prolly, just find a team that will split PT with another TE. one year of less PT won't kill you, but you could lose a lot of extra SP by not soft capping an important skill so early in your career.

I would train jump/stam all of next season, and put all level points into major skills you plan to soft cap. I say take one more year of lumps, and by the end of next season you have have a well rounded, superior build

Just ask your next owner to put you on a couple of different slots.
My HB was placed KR/PR, FB, HB, DT (Although he didn't have enough stamina to play that position) and got 80 plays in a game.

I know it was a slowbuild team, but you never know where you could pick up a few extra plays and still be useful.

Woot! In my first career playoff game I hauled in 4 passes for 80+ yards, and finally reached pay dirt http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=200698&pbp_id=10154512

Also had another would be TD if the pass wasn't off target

Hopefully more good things to come

So have you been cutting and slashing like a madman?

Well in the 4 games with capped Speed and Agi I have caught 17 passes for 200 yards and my first career TD. Not huge numbers, but I also dropped a lot of passes since these games were pre-boosting with about 20 catching.

Update

Now Lvl 15 and just finished capping catching, now have:

50 agility (64 with equip)
49 speed
48 catching
21 vision
18 stamina
17 jumping
No SA's

A bit ahead of schedule with capping catching, must have calculated something wrong in my original post a month ago. For my next step, I am thinking about taking agility to the 61 (3:1) cap which would likely be in 4 levels. Any other suggestions are welcome, have not yet decided where to go next.

I've grown awfully high on agility as well so I think you're TE will do very well at the higher levels. I'd consider either the 3/1 agility or go 2/1 catching, probably more the latter since it's a major skill. From what I've seen higher catching helps dramatically while the agility gives you separation.

thanks for the posts, I have a recieving TE about 5 levels behind yours and reading about your progress has really helped. I think the only thing I'm going to do a little different is soft capping catching before I soft cap agility (sp is already there). Reson is that I can get a couple cheap x2 points that way since catching is a "major" attribute and ag isn't.
