I'd imagine that those two combined with an already fast/agile WR would pretty much spell doom for most CBs, wouldn't it?

I'm actually going to aim for that. I have 80 agility, 8 route run, and just found a piece of quick cut equipment in the advanced item store so I think I'm going to bump that up some too. We'll see how it goes.

You don't need high agility for Quick Cut, it's really about speed.

Also, bossinthe831 no one nows how much of a bonus Route Run gives to speed and agility but I doubt you'd get much of a bonus on your 80 agility. I think the 20 SP you'd put in Route Run would be better spent in speed.

I agree with Visc. in terms of Route Run. I'm not convinced there is enough of a return on the investment if you have already loaded up on speed and First Step. I don't see much off a difference if any on my level 17 WR who has 5 points in route run and low speed/agility so I'd highly doubt you would see a noticeable bonus if you had high speed and agility.

unless RR is the WR's counter to Shutdown Coverage?

It could be, but CBs rarely have high Shutdown Coverage since it's last in the SA tree and no one really wants to put many points in the useless SA Smooth Operator to get to Shutdown Coverage.

I think Route Run definitely works well though check out my WR. My WR Ves Velker has 5 less speed than the WR he's next to at WR1 or WR3 in these replays, but my WR has 5 in Route Run and he accelerates/moves much faster than the other WR McLovin McDaniels. Both WRs have almost the same agility and only custom equipment in the Speedster SAs.

My WR has relatively high route run and has performed well in his career, fwiw. Route run is one of the few SA's that appears to active every play rather than just certain plays, which is rather nice imo.

Shutdown Coverage is probably the 2nd most coveted SA for most CBs after Super Vision. Since Pump Fake got nerfed, Shutdown Coverage might even be the most now.

Truth. I would say that the majority of CB's over Lvl 32 have at least 5 into SDC.

I like the route run points i put in, before this season i think I had 4 with equipment and after boosting and natural levels I had my first 1000 yards receiving yard season so that's good. I noticed my guy is just a good well.. route runner. he has tons of catches for 5-8 yards and picks up a lot of 3rd downs. If I had put those points into speed I would have what, 80 speed? That's the least Cb's my level have and I would get shut down, I think the route run turned my mediocre build into a pretty good one.

Also, CB's I have seen usually have ~5 points in shutdown coverage, most would have more but don't like putting points into smooth operator. So a high route run and quick cut receiver could take advantage of that. Of course to Mob-6, you can't have high route run with low speed and agility. Without those two what's the point of route run? I think the extreme builds people come up with to prove things are often well... too extreme

Route run is without a doubt worth it.

That's kinda what I was looking for. I don't think I'm going to bother dabbling with the speedster tree outside of First Step and Quick Cut, and nothing in the possession tree interests me other than Route Run. If it can be assumed that at level 20 5 in RR is worth *over* 5 speed, I imagine that the returns would be worth it to invest pretty heavily in it over time. I'm hoping to have 85+ speed before I bother spending time with my SAs, but it's good information to have as I level up.

I respectfully disagree. Get back to me after you read the Route Run SA description. Where does it say you can't have high route run with low speed and agility it actually says it is very important for that type of receiver?

I think this talent is exactly FOR people who neglect speed and agility so they can improve catching and related talents. Route Run should give you just enough boost to get a tiny bit of separation and your high catching related talents should let you out grab the defender. I have made plays where I have caught the ball behind a defender when he is in between me and the ball. I have yet to subscribe to the theory that you can't get open if you have low speed/agility. My low speed/agility receiver is doing very well in terms of catching and getting separation against guys 10-15 levels higher than him. If my team was more competitive or level of competition closer, I would expect my stats to be impressive.

But it all comes down to what GLB considers low speed and agility. I mean everyone seems to think the soft cap or the 60.51 cap is relatively high, but is it really? On Madden or NCAA you'd consider that low.

If Route Run acts as a multiplier, with speed and agility below the soft cap it won't really be multiplying much.

You can clearly see it working for my WR with 67 speed and 49 agility.
